Really surprised at how an older Viper still turns heads. I bought a 1994 Dodge Viper a few weeks ago and been driving it around town a lot. I knew some car people
might like the car but Im amazed at the people at gas stations. Pulled up to a large gas station the other night and literally had 4 people
surround the car making pics. Been to Walmart, the grocery store and a few other retail stores and the same thing...people snapping pictures. Too funny...Never
realized an old Viper would attract this kind of attention. You would think Im driving a 200K car.

I work on South Beach, Miami, FL and drive my car daily. I see at least one Ferrari 458 or Gallardo every single day. Lambos, Aston Martin, Maserati, Ferrari, Porsche, etc are a dime a dozen down here yet my 97 Viper GTS gets as much if not more attention than most of them!

Now its your job to represent the snake well and give her all the glory and attention she deserves. Answer peoples questions, If someone is very interested Insist that they sit in her. Look at the smiles. Feal the positive energy. You have the power to "make" peoples days. Embrace it :)

Today driving to work a newer charger was following me for a bit down the freeway. Normaly im Autobahning down the fast lane with everyone moving out of the way since the B/W with the yellow fogs looks pretty spectacular in peoples rear views. I momentarily moved to the right lane and slowed down a bit to let him come along side and get a closer look. He literally took both hands off the wheel and gave me the double thumbs up. Lol. Then on my way home i stopped at the pizza shop since i skipped lunch and got to introduce two more fans to her. Good times.

We have a place at the Continuum in South Beach and go down there every few months. Would be nice to meet up next time I go down there. And I totally agree with you about the cars down there. I never ever see a single Viper, but Ferrari's, Lambo's, and Maserati's are a dime a dozen there. Either way, whenever I go down there I'm in car heaven, and I look forward to coming home to my Viper sitting in the garage.

Yes the older Vipers do turn heads and they are well missed but IMO the Lambo Aventador which of course few have, REALLY turns heads and should. What an awesome piece of art and machine.

With over 70kmi on the 2001 GTS she still get lots of looks. I would say more than the SRT10. Just about everytime I take it out, I almost always have someone come over and chat while I'm working on it, driving or washing it. I have had so many pics taken of the car I have even seen a few on the net. I ALWYAS take what time I can and talk to people about it. Let them look it over and if they are under 16....I always let them sit in it. The parking lot smoke shows, drifting, drag races, street and road work as well.

My Viper isn't show worthy, but she has put on a Viper worthy show.

I purchased a box of match box car models of my 94 R/T 10 and give them away to kids that admire the car at gas stations, shows, etc. They are cheep and you get a lot of pleasure from it. When we were small everthing was the Corvette, now the young kids go crazy over the Vipers. Try it, its fun!

Continuum is a beautiful complex, definitely let me know when you are in town and we can meet up, do you keep your viper here or in NJ?

It's really a shame Lambo only made 3 Venenos...and only gave them 750 HP—especially since grandparent VW also owns Bugatti—and the Veneno doubled the price of even the newest Veyrons.

Two excellent posts showing what it's all about! :2tu:
To Nickel, don't be so surprised... the old vipers are timeless much like the old shelby cobra 427's - curves-n-sidepipes baby! :)

Absolutely. It's such a beautiful design that I think it will always claim a spot in automotive history. Even people that don't know what it is, recognize it by it's style and presence alone. I love mine.

I always ask if young boys would like to sit in my GTS and have their mother or father take a picture of them in it. I get some major thumbs up and thank yous!

I agree...Great post! You also get older grandmas looking at the car too. Maybe they think the Viper looks like a live cartoon...That what my younger son says anyways

^this. On my way to work one day, I had an older woman, probably in her 70's ask "what make is that? .... thats sharp"

Another time, my buddy parked his 1000hp c6 z06 next to my gen 1. I got talking to some guy in the parking lot about the viper and he says "this thing is gorgeous (viper)... this is nice too (referring to my friends vette)". Its kind of funny when an 18 year old viper gets more attention than a $100k z06.

Guess we'll know for sure when Viper kit car sales overtake Cobra kits.

That's why I stuck with a Gen1 when I bought mine. I have never been more happy with a decision to buy mine. Vipers are to Americans as is Ferrari for Italians.

I keep my Viper in Hoboken, NJ which is really where we live full time as the Continuum is just our vacation home that we visit 2 to 4 times a year. The irony of it all is that the entire garage of our building in Miami must have at least $200 million worth of exotics and ultra high end luxury cars (I swear I'm not exaggerating at all!!!), and we have a GMC Yukon Hybrid down there. It's kinda comical actually as that car sticks out like a sore thumb down there.

Love the Continuum and wish we could get down there more often, but we were just there not 2 weeks ago and had our 1 year old son go in the ocean for the first time which was amazing. Will definitely let you know next time we head down there, and should absolutely meet up. PM me your contact info and I will get in touch when we are planning our next trip down. Definitely would love to see your car, and I have a buddy in the building that just took delivery of a McLaren 12C convertible in midnight blue, and maybe I can convince him to take it out to show you too.

I have a red gts, and people are always taking pictures and thumbs up at an intersection. When I drive it to a show there is always a group of 5-10 coming to take a look once it arrives.

Get used to it ... the '01 GTS gathers a lot of attention, no matter where you go! I regularly offer to take a picture with teens and twenty-somethings in the driver's seat and my car has shown up on many a Face Book page. It's so much fun to have others enjoy the pure art form that IS the Viper. I'm going on 4 years with my first Snake and I still go out in the garage just to gaze on the smooth lines and appreciate the impact that it has on everyone that sees it. Couple that with the raw power and awesome handling and it's a car that I'll drive until I'm just too DMN old to do it.

These cars are meant to be DRIVEN ... don't let your Beast become a garage queen. Get on the open road ... get on the track ... get out in public and show the rest of the car lovers what it's like to own a fantastic part of American automotive history.

My 94 Viper only had 4K miles when I bought it a few weeks ago. Now has 4800 miles. Previous owner made this car a garage queen. Im driving it!!! Ive probably put more miles on it in the last month than the previous owner did in 3 years.
