what group buy is going on? Is there going to be a SnakeOyl group buy?
I have only seen this happen as the result of the wheel hitting something. I have seen them cracked as well, but it was also from an impact. I have been racing Vipers since 1993 and never have a toe link mount break on its own.

The same with us at the factory. I would never think of using a hammer on any part of the chassis.
The red Viper you see is mine. I made a thread on it.

Well, i bought the Kit from snake oyl, now; is it too hard to mount on the car??, do i need a lift?, do i need to re-align the rear tires after putting it in?, any help will be appreciated. thx.

It is very easy to install them. No rear alignment is necessary as none of the settings change. It would help to have a shop manual for the torques specs and specific procedures to remove the rear toe link joint if you are unfamiliar in doing so.

The hub bearing bolts is 110Ft lbs and the toe link knuckle nut is 55 ft lbs.

Should't there be a factory recall on this before someone gets seriously injured or worse?
I had this exact thing happen BUT a guy on a motorcycle ran right int my rear wheel at the gas station. This was an extremely low speed hit but it broke the "knuckle" - my wheel ended up on a 45 degree angle as well!
From the speed in which he hit me I never imagined that amount of damage could be possible.

Wow!!! a motorcycle can brake the knuckle at the rear , something is not right here.
What was very surprising to me is that it was a small bike and was going only about walking speed...2-3 mph. I thought all he had done was scratch the rim a bit. After exchanging information with him I went to back out and the wheel twisted to a 45 degree angle!
Wouldn't you think track driving might put at least this much pressure on the knuckle? especially some of the cornering??

I've never read or heard of a track incident in the years I have followed the forum. I'd think that it would come up here. Maybe I missed it.

Installed them yesterday, pretty easy and straightforward, after i had all the tools and the tires were out,took me about 7-10 min to put both in, then i took the snake for a spin...

I installed mine last month, my right rear bolt pattern didn't line up correctly so I had to take a round file to shave off 1/8 of inch, didn't want to put extra stress on the rear knuckle , now I can sleep at nights.

If this is an issue, Ralph should be personally sending them to all SRT10 owners... The problem I see with using this part is that it really does not prevent original part from breaking, it just softens the blow afterwards and you really have to be aware the part is broken, kinda like with runflat tires. Maybe there should be steel replacement of the original part?

Maybe he means Motorcycle and not a bike, and it was probably not at 2-3 mph only rather like 5-10
I could see it then, but no way a bicycle at any speed could do it, even at 20mph...the rider would get seriously hurt but the Viper knuckle would not break lol
I'd be in to buy a set.
This sounds really dangerous, it's a bit ridiculous if you ask me. Should have been a recall or some sort of test to check for the strength on each car.
I think everyone should buy one, who wants to die in their car at highway speeds?
