Just thot I'd bring attention to a recent article in Hemmings ( Dec 2012 ) about collector interest in Vipers starting to awaken. Unadulterated, original examples bring the most $$$.

Hurray, I am rich. :smirk: I figured it was only a matter of time before people started realizing the value of these cars especially with them getting harder and harder to find in good condition and their low production numbers. This really does not effect me in any way since I plan on owning mine for a long time unless god forbid something horrible happens where I have to sell it.

Same goes for the Prowler...I think that's a car going up in value as well. First Viper coming to Vancouver will be a white GTS, asking price $150k plus Taxes....so $40-50k for a mint Gen2 suddenly sounds like a real bargain :)

It appears to me that Gen2 prices have bottomed out and may be starting to go up.

I've noticed that cars tend to rise in price quickly once the public that was 16yo when they were first released turns 40. So we still have a few years left before the prices really begin going up.

I agree, and I was 16 in 92 so I completely understand what you are saying. The 96 B&W was the only Viper I ever wanted in my garage and thankfully it's there. I honestly don't care if it ever appreciates in value, that will probably only benefit my kids. Now if I can ever find a B&W Gen5 without all the fluff on it, it could make a nice companion to the 96.

I expect no miracles out of my gen 2. As long as it's price holds steady as i continue to add miles to it (about 7k a year) I'll be happy. If they really are appreciating then it should. I know in the short term this isn't happening but if in 10 years worth what I paid for it last year with 50k+ more miles I'll be happy.

Ground breaking car at introduction. Stand out styling. Low production numbers. Prices starting to move up.
Best get one soon, it is the poster child for collectable.

The recipe for a "modern" AC Cobra. Ancestry from authentic car guys like Bob Lutz and Carroll Shelby. Identical to many sought after cars, it is a raw purpose built driving experience the attorneys won't allow to be replicated.
