I bought a 02 gts off a board member about a year ago. Today is the first time I'm having it inspected after being garaged since I had purchased.

Unfortunately it failed. The computer would not read everything. A picture is below. Any ideas of what is wrong? I was assured it would pass inspection when I bought the car (I had asked because there is a side pipe conversion)

Looks like you need to do a long drive to get the OBD to reset. Did the car stay on a battery tender or was the battery dead? The OBD needs a drive cycle to relearn all of the cars parameters. I'm sure someone with more knowledge of the system will chime in if I'm off base here, but that is what it appears from the printout you posted. Hope this helps. Jeff

If it's not throwing out an error code you'll probably be ok....before I started putting miles on it clear the codes if they didn't already clear them when you got it inspected...if not it will retain the errors...if you can't get a tech to chime in try & google each error...

They just told me the computer wouldn't work, they didn't say there were any errors. I'm going to see if there are any errors. It looks like driving will reset the computer from the responses. Anyone else that confirm or had the same issue?

I sold one of my TT Viper to a man in NH 2 yrs ago and he was never able to get it thru the inspection because it has the AEM Programmer on it......Vipers with that on there wont pass the emissions test.... I just a few months ago bought it back... well he loved the Viper but had no choice but to put it up for sale.....He was sick about it.....I knew the car and it has 34,000 mi on it and is like new still and purrs like a kitten......he did manage to put 2000 mi on it in the 2 yrs he had it and is not a racer type, only car shows, so I wasn't worried about its condition....he even spent several thousand on it on custom pieces, and such for car showing so I love it....if he could have got it thru inspection....he would have NEVER sold it.......There a a lot of states that have state testing that you cannot pass with these Vipers so I am wondering if yours has been changed from the stock one.?????? just checking....

If the battery failed, the computer will have to relearn the diagnostic monitors....there is a strict driving cycle which needs to be followed (unfortunetely this is very difficult to accomplish on public roads with traffic). Do a search and there are tons of threads on this. One or two of the readiness monitors are quite easy to set. If you drive the Viper for a while in regular conditions, they often set themselves. Just a matter of how many miles you need to put on the car before you get it all set up. If you have an OBDII reader, then you can check yourself. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. I have not driven it all that much since the battery died. I suspect this is the issue. I am having it dyno'd tommorrow so hopefully this will reset it.

Dis you check fuses? My 06 failed due to a blown fuse that powers the obd2. Changed fuse and retested next day for a pass

I am always having to go on a long drive in my Jeep SRT to get it to pass. 60mph for 6 minutes or something like that to allow the computer to check all nec parameters.

Battery died in my 99RT and I'm having the same issue, put about 150 miles on and it's still "not ready." I've heard stories about cars taking 1000 miles or more to finally finish all the tests, which is ridiculous--that's more than I put on my car in a year.

If anybody has any tricks or tips on getting it to complete the tests, please post them. I've searched for this, but all the info I've found is just conjecture.

I would send Chuck Tator (The Viper Wizard) a PM. He has your answer.

Check what your state's requirements are, but based on the car's age, you may still be fine with the not ready status. As long as you aren't throwing codes in my state, I can have two monitors with incomplete status and still pass. My cat monitoring status has been reading incomplete for years. I drove it 500 miles after resetting my ECM a few years back and every cycle possible. I finally went to an emissions shop and they told me I was fine, given my car is a older than xx years. To think I drove all that time trying to get bit to cycle for nothing. I reset my ECM this past weekend (due to my mods and tune change) drove about 20 miles of mixed driving and passed emissions for another 2 years :)

You just need to drive a bit more. It is reading as you show ready status for a couple of the monitors, but not enough yet to go to ready status on a couple.
