Literally!

Last weekend I was cruising around with my RT/10 when on the road in front of me a dove made itself/himself/herself (???) comfortable. I was going approx. 70 km/h, took the foot off the gas and was thinking: "Gee, dove, move your ass and get out of the way!!" However, the dove did not listen to me. To make things worse, a second dove landed right next to his/her suicidal companion :omg: :omg:

Meanwhile it was too late to escape (for me) and I thought: "****, no way to avoid the crash! Best to just roll over them with the middle of the car!!" That's what I did. I felt and heard some strange noises coming from the undercarriage and when I was looking into the rear mirror, I basically saw a ball of hundreds of feathers "exploding" on the street :crazy2:.

I don't know if the car killed both doves or if one could rescue itself but I am sure that at least one did not survive!

Luckily, seems like the car was not damaged and there don't seem to remain any "bodies of evidence" on the car (as far as I could see).

The learning out of this for me is, that in such situations you have to act immediately and intuitively. There is just no time for thinking and for sure none for hoping either.

Glad there was no damage. Even small critters can crack the glass on these cars if you're going fast. Look at my avatar and see the big crack a tiny kitten made on the lower front fascia.....I was only going 55 but had cornfields right up to the road on both sides; tiny kitten bolted from the field and I had zero time to stop or even adjust since there was oncoming traffic in the other lane. $1100 worth of glass repairs. Try to avoid 'em if you can....if not for PETA purposes for expense sake!

I had something similar happen with my 99 RT-10 while driving back from VOI 11 in Salt Lake. It was early in the morning and I was passing a truck while headed to Pendelton Oregon when I saw something in my lane. I had nowhere to go and I hoped it wasn't something hard. I hit it, thinking it was a cardboard box or a bag. When I stopped at the next rest stop I looked at the front of my car and it had a poor little dead owl hanging out of it's "mouth". I felt bad because I like owls and raptors, but It was almost a funny scene. Normally owls eat snakes and this time the snake got the owl. The only damage was to the owl. The Viper was OK.

OH Great! Now the ASPCA will be protesting all Viper sales..... throwing themselves on the ground in front of our cars to keep us from leaving a parking lot. Then they will try to ban 91 octane fuel because "why does anyone need more than ethonal anyway?" Nice going. :)

Come on, I thought we had a pact with these type of critters, doves, squirrels, etc. Remember George Costanza he did the right thing(after his girlfriend threatened him!!) Where I live, you wouldn't believe the type of wildlife in the roadway, just the other day a motorist in front of me slammed on his brakes in the middle of nowhere to keep from hitting a guinea hen. I had to swerve right to avoid hitting him and the driver behind me had to swerve as well. I'm not a fan of hitting small critters, but little turtles, geese, snakes(not Vipers), assorted birds, numerous deer, raccoons, rats., possums, dogs, cats, pigs, sheep, cows, horses, buffalo, yes it's true, it's only Long Island but you can never be too careful especially during twilight, hunting or mating season. Just a reminder to be particularly careful out there!!!

So you dozed a dove duo after they dove down at your car and you drove another dozen miles before checking for damage?
