The pictures are above of the little boxes you get from Autozone? No idea if Chrysler /Dodge sells these separate? Call Chuck Tator of Tators Garage if you want a OEM part, or ask Viper parts of America.

I just did it 2 days ago. My old O-rings fell apart when I took them out so I knew that was the problem. Pulled a vacuum and recharged for $120. Good as new!

Well just got done doing this a/c fix. Hopefully this seals the system up for good.

It's like a new wave of seals go bad every summer. I bought my seals at Autozone, up to $5.00 with tax. I had my system vacuumed for $30 today, mainly because my vision glass was more like a snow storm than bubbles so I think I had moisture in the system. The guy at the AC shop said to make sure you don't leave the system open long and do the seals on a low humidity day so moisture doesn’t reenter the system. It rained cats and dogs here today so I think Sunday is my day to pop the seals in and recharge next week.

I had my system vacuumed for $30 today really! **** $130 here for vacuum .... oh but you didn't do the recharge yet..got it.

^that's the one thing I would recommend after changing out the o-rings, pull a vacuum to make sure to pull out any moisture in the system, then recharge. I didn't do this step and I'm a little concerned even though it does blow cold air now, but will do the next time around.

Are the OEM seals both black or is one green? I had one black seal and one green one so I'm thinking someone was in there before.

Mine was the same way. I have an '02 GTS, I'm the original owner and I've never had any AC service done before whatsoever.

You had a vacuum pulled before you changed the seals? and then after also? Seems like overkill; but, then again, you are supposed to have the freon recovered before opening the system.

Regarding size, here'swhat worked for me. Originals were black, replacements green. 5 years later still blowing cold...

Did the same here. I bought the HNBR Rubber O-ring Kit (green o-rings), specifically the 24-piece assorted kit from Autozone. From the chart size diagram on the back of the packaging, here's what I used:
Larger size: 13.8 x 2.5mm
Smaller size: 10.8 x 2.4mm

his o-ring choices are correct, but the size of the smaller one should be 10.8mm x 2.4 mm according to my package size chart.
^This is the size I used as well on the smaller one, 10.8 x 2.4mm.

Yeah, I agree but I didn’t think the freon was low as much as it had moisture in it, I didn't have bubbles in the glass but I had more like a fog and low cooling capacity. I was thinking it may have still had pressure in it and I would have had a mess to clean up like others mentioned if I opened it under pressure. But your right I probably thought too much and could have simplified things by just swapped seals without the pre vac.

I did the two O-rings at the compressor, but also did the two O-rings at the condenser (in front of radiator) and replaced the high and low side schrader valve stems.
By just adding R134a to the unvacuumed system, it would cool down to about 50ºF at the vents...not that efficient.
By getting the system evacuated, then pulling a vacuum and adding R134a, it cools down to sub 40º at the vents. Much better.

THAT is an excellent result! Maybe we should start a thread with "What's your AC temp?" I think I have something I can use to measure the temp....I sure as h$ll know its not in the sub 40's.

Got mine done, the O-rings were perfect but the valves were not...... like Chuck hinted to me.....

Great idea, I'm going to do this. Do I need another package of O rings or can I find the ones I need in what's left in the AutoZone package I bought for the compressor?

I am excited, it seems like the majority of AC systems are getting fixed by these simple O rings. Very pumped about this! St. Louis humidity is kicking in ******** around here and that makes for very unpleasent Viper driving weather.....unless you've got AC!

How good is the a/c on the gts 96-2002 compared to a gen3 or gen4 a/c system? I have heard different opinions on how gts has less a/c vents and so fourth and that the A/C will never be cool enough to where you will turn the knob down because it got too cold in a state like texas or florida where it stays hot year round I would like to have a/c.. thanks
