Sat in my first Stryker Gen V

Local dealer got one in today. $149,*** +19,995 market adjustment.

Only had 15 minutes with it, but initial impressions:

-Is the hood really all carbon fiber? Looks like a CF "sheet" on the underside of a composite hood.
-Is the hatch the same as the hood? I don't know, the car was not prepped yet so no hatch fuse.
-Black rear facia and side scoops already showing fine scratches.
-Interior was not any easier to get in our out of IMO.
-Wish I could have powered it up or started it .
-Seats not as soft or supportive as Gen III/IV.
-Same view out of windshield IMO.
-Still not diggin the front end.
-Beautiful paint, so smooth.
-Very cool interior and wheel.
-Dig the side scoupes, cool.
-Worth 2 Gen IV ACRs???

It's really interesting you mention the hood not being all CF...

Everyone who has one please check something for me. Pop the hood and from the engine side take a close look at the hood area for the air scoop. When I was under the hood last night checking everything out in detail I got to the area and noticed the CF stopped and it looked like some other composite material. I thought I was just me but since you're questioning it to I'd like a third set of eyes on this.

Damn that's rough...but it makes me feel like I got a good deal on mine.

The structural parts are all CF. They probably bonded the outer shell to a material that would allow for a smoother finish and better paint adhesion.

Black rear facia and side scoops already showing fine scratches.

Plan to replace mine with the CF versions once they're available, in the mean time fine scratches aren't anything you can't fix with a few dabs of poli-seal...and you're always going to notice imperfections more readily on black surfaces.

Worth 2 Gen IV ACRs???

Inflation...it happens. May as well spend your money now while it's worth something.

-Is the hatch the same as the hood? I don't know, the car was not prepped yet so no hatch fuse. Yes, the same.

-Black rear facia and side scoops already showing fine scratches. Crappy dealership car washers. Avoid.

-Interior was not any easier to get in our out of IMO. Exactly the same as Gen 3/4. They even share the same sill scuff covers.

-Seats not as soft or supportive as Gen III/IV. Mine softened up after about 1,000 miles. I didn't like them at first, either. Many Viper owners will never experience them when they are softer, they don't drive enough.

-Same view out of windshield IMO. Exactly like Gen 3/4, but dash is lower and not as close.

-Still not diggin the front end. I dig it. Makes my '06 look dated though.

-Worth 2 Gen IV ACRs??? Not fair to compare inflated price vs used ACR price. Most new ACR's were over $110K.

Arent Gen IV ACR's still worth alot? There's a 2010 green ACR listed on dupont registry for $102k right now? Then again only 2k on the motor. Are u saying one with miles is worth 85k? because 85k times 2= $170K, the cost of the stryker?

It was a random comment. Nothing to look into too much. Dealer priced this one at 170 and said that's the price.
So would I rather have two ACRs @ 85 a piece of this. Or even a Gen I, II, III & IV.

Again, just a random thought I had when I was sitting in it. The Stryker was very nice looking.

He'll be sitting on it for awhile. a $150,000 liability on the show room floor - $100,000 more than their next expensive vehicle won't be overpriced for long. Even vehicles around here in overly rich DC, which had $30-50k markups are now at MSRP.

It is a shame that this sits on the floor while VEMON V and vipernut twiddle their thumbs.

When John actually builds one AND it passes new car emissions/reliability stadards, I will believe it. A $50K premium over a standard no options base SRT model Viper for just Hennessey headwork, exhaust, intake (all touches that add theorectical 85 HP and 95 lbstq adn theorectical performance numbers), some minor ground effects, badges and floor mats sure does not seem like a bargain to me for the extra $50K. And he is taking the base SRT (zero options) not GTS car to start as it has the SRT hood for 2013 you could not get that on a 2013 GTS. Everything is theorectical for your $50K premium R&D dollars. I can tell you from personal experience with discussions with the SRT engineers, the power SRT got out of the new GEN V and still meeting emissions/reliability was the max they could get with the work they did. Not saying there is not more that could be extracted in the future with more work which hopefully there can, but is what it is. Again reliability and emissions compliant and max power with total disregard for those two aspects are two totally different things.

Damn, if my Stryker had not just entered Frame yesterday, I may have been in contact with this dealer!!!

Oh, and just because they put a markup on a window doesn't mean smart people would pay it. I just bought my Camaro 1LE for $4K below sticker, I ignored the dealer's inflated mark-up.

I'm surprised that a Stryker Red is unsold, actually really surprised. It won't last. And this is the one color that may be able to demand a mark-up. Not that I'm a fan of that. I paid $143K for mine, not a dollar over MSRP.

Yeah, those are just signs to catch a lucky one (sucker). Walk up with your checkbook and ask to speak to the GM, bypass the salesman and watch what you get it for if you are prepared to write the check right there.

Yup paid 13k less than sticker on the Maserati. 170k-----> think of what you can get for that ....MC Stradale Spider(new), Bentley CGT V8(New), SLS AMG (year old/left over), Lamborghini LP560 Spyder(2010), Ferarri Scuderia(2008-9), Three different color C7's(new), 2 Different color Lotus Evora S models(new). Just some perspective.

Even if it were priced at 145k which is all its worth new, that still gets you to all or at least 80% of the above vehicles.

LOL u should be surprised that this sits unsold there and yours is still not finished!

That is a crazy price.
For me personally, when I have to write a check like that, I will add to it and make it out to a different division of FIAT, LOL.

1. Do not pay more than MSRP - go to Tomball and be happy.
2. Worth 2 ACR's ... we laughed and said it took one to get the new car/engine and one for the interior. Well worth it - completely ridiculous quality - but as you have seen it you know.
3. carbon fiber available from factory for almost every part.
4. The weight of the hood and advertising tells you it is CF .. that is not something one can stretch.
5. Getting in and out has always been an art form. This car is no different but well worth the journey.
6. Front, rear, side you name it .. love it from every angle. The design is unbelievable IMHO.

How in the hell is Hennessey still in business? Why would anyone give him a dime for anything?
