So is there anyone else here that will be attending this rally? Our company is one of the sponsor's for this year's event. I'll be driving my '99 ACR with a friend of mine as co-pilot, but word is that there's 4 other Vipers that will be in attendance. DUSTBALL has been around for a couple of years, from what I read, and it seems like a good bunch of people... We'll see how it goes!

This will be my first time participating in one of these events and the fact that it's a gimmick rally (solve puzzles and figure out what city you're driving to!)I think will make for a fun time.

My car is currently in Houston at a friend's shop getting all fluids changed, ****. injection, and a complete (temporary) makeover.
So before I get crap for what I'm doing to my car, may I inform everyone that this is TEMPORARY. It's not paint and it's not a wrap.. it's called Plastidip. I've used it several times before (mostly on my daily) and I really like it for the simple fact that it can be peeled off like a decal whenever you get tired of the look.

The final color will be a "Matte Yamaha Blue" with matte black wheels & gas cap. The black seen in the pics. is used as a base color only (think "primer"). It's a cheap way to change up the whole look of the car, which is exactly what I wanted for the rally. Search "dip your car" in YouTube and you'll see how popular it is with all sorts of automotive crowds.

Tuning. It's a high compression 542 stroker. **** will be used more for safety than power.

Very cool. Would love to see pics of the final color. Who built your 542 stroker and what is your power output? What did the dip cost if you don't mind me asking? Have fun at the rally. Please post some pics! Just curious...are you a leveraged X4 forex trader? Looks like a major uptrend should start on Monday 072913 for the USD from the 3 month IHS pattern. DOOM for the EUR finally. I've been SHORT EUR @ 1.33 and will hold for a few years. Please PM responses if you decide to respond if you prefer. TIA.

• Pics. of final color will be posted as soon as I get them!
• 542 originally built by John Lingenfelter for George Bryce. Ran a 9.9x @ 142-143 in Bradenton, FL (verified by several members in attendance)
• Currently @ 635rwhp/665rwtq
• I am not a forex trader, but you seem to know what you're talking about. :D Screen name is completely unrelated to that, but you're not the first to ask.

Not as excited as me! I saw the color today in person, which will be applied VERY soon, and it looks amazing! I'll try to get pics from all angles before decals are applied. The car will be in a photo shoot next Sunday where sponsor decals are required.

And to the person who asked how much: Kit cost is around $400 + whatever my friend will charge in labor. I figure it'll be under $1000 when it's all said and done.

AWESOME. What a beast. Neat that you have a motor built by the legend JL. I have a '98 GTS Hennessey Venom 650R. Not stroked putting out 574/578. $1000 for that dip is very reasonable. Looking forward to seeing your blue pics.

It's fun getting to tell people about the car since JL was most famous for his Vette/GM builds. I have the Car & Driver mag it was featured in and it talks about the Lingenfelter/Hennessey "Cold War" days when tuners for these cars were few and far between.

Pics. will definitely be posted up.

Hey forexx!! We'll be on the rally also with my 2000 RT10. I've been reading up on the plastidip recently and I'm considering it on one of my hot rods right now. Anxious to see your car and see how it looks!! And that motor sounds badass too! My buddies and I are coming into town on Sunday for a concert but we should have some time to kill. Where's the photo shoot gonna be at?

Also, we have all day Monday with nothing planned. Maybe we can hang out before we drive up to Addison

Awesome! Looking forward to meeting you. The photo shoot is at a private location (I think I'll get specifics the day of). I might be able to leave the office early but PM your # and we can talk through phone/text as I don't check here all the time.

So as promised, here's the most recent pic my friend sent me. It's barely the 1st coat he's laid on, but it's already looking damn good to me! Any overspray seen on windows, etc. is easily wiped off with a microfiber towel w/ zero evidence it was ever there.

Addison? That's my town...... What's the scoop on this drive?

It's a gimmick rally for people who like to drive their cars further than just down the block. ;)

Visit their site! Not sure if I can post it here...

And here's one more. Again, overspray is no big deal when using plastidip as it's easily removed.

Thank you! I'm ready to see it in person and even more anxious for next week to be here. Sponsor decals will be on it by Friday so I'll have to snap some good pics before then.

Now I'm really confused?

So what was the colour of the car originally? Is the matte black a primer / base coat of some sort? I don't know anything about Plastic dip, you spray it on?

So does it just peel off when you're done with it?

It's like a spray on wrap for the car. Almost any color you want and you can use multiple colors. And then it peels off just like a wrap when you're done with it. And it's a LOT cheaper than a full paint job

Original color is red w/ silver stripes. The matte black was a base coat of plastidip followed by the matte blue, which will be the final color. It'll last a year easily if taken care of (water & soap) and can be peeled off as the previous posts said.

True! But it's nice to go around with a different look every now and then (especially one that's easily reversable!)

And yes, I believe there's one in the UK called MODBALL Rally. Google might know more than me though.
