Has anyone else done this? I am just looking for more sound. I don't have the 3 to 5K to dump into a exhaust ( mopar controller, High flow cats, headers and exhaust) I don't need anymore horsepower.( OMG I must be getting old ) I would have kicked myself 5 years ago for saying that. I just can't see spending 3 to 5K just for more and better sound. I was just going to cut off the mufflers and run straight pipes. I heard a guys car this weekend at Cars and coffee and it sounded great. Will I loose power from not having back pressure? I was also told it would give me more decel pops but I like that sound. Any input would be appreciated. I know some of you guys have to had done this. I just don't want to loose power or damage the car. Just need more noise

I don't know how much $ You'd spend to have someone do the exhaust but it's a little time consuming to take the side panels on/off to make sure the pipe lines up right.

I honestly would try to buy the mopar 3" race exhaust kit.

I think it's a bargain. If you are wrenching yourself vs paying a muffler shop for the work. I think the price difference won't be THAT much and you'll get much higher quality parts like stainless steel instead of alumiunized tubing like most exhaust shops carry in stock.

I have a buddy that has the exact same car as me and he put the corsa on and its not even louder than my stock. We put the cars next to each other and started them and you couldnt tell the difference. He paid 1500 plus 500 install for very little sound gain. So just a cat back is not enough and thats 2K!!! A waste in my opinion if all you are looking for is sound

I made my own with kooks race mufflers sounded un believable but a little loud for me so I think I'm gonna try 2 mufflers on each side I think it will be perfect. When I had the kooks mufflers on no heat put my stock mufflers back for now and I can feel the heat again oh yeah was all three inch also. It sound like a race car when I switched back it was kind of embarrassing if that is possible in a viper

Pretty positive the mopar 3" race exhaust gets rid of the 2 cats on each side. I have the same system on my car and it does not have cats.

That v-band on the 90 degree tube pretty much bolts to the exhaust manifold. Trust me, its sounds really good.

I am running ARH with 2.5'' borla cat back and just removed the cats and the car sounds great, much better than before

with catless pipe u will gain little HP and your side sill will be cooler than before, but dont forget to keep the O2 sensor wiring connected and wrap them with heat wrap and tie them somewhere below

running a straight pipe instead of catback will make your car sounds very loud, but I believe that u may loose some HP as one of the member here posted a thread that when he dynoed his car without the catback he lost some Hp

Might try getting rid of the cats first and see what that gets you. If you're spending any money to get more sound, I would recommend headers before a catback. With the same catback/mufflers, my car got significantly louder after getting rid of the cats and adding headers.

These cars don't sound so stupid when you run an open exhaust.

I had the Mopar Race Exhaust on my car. Lasted about 2 years, then one of the mufflers exploded at the track. Took me a while to figure out what happened. Burned the paint on the side sill pretty bad. Had to have that re-painted -again.

I didn't want to buy the whole system again just for the mufflers, so I went old-skool American redneck style.
I welded in some Cherry Bombs. :headbang:

Got both mufflers for 120 bucks, and the car sounds unbelievable.
3 inch open all the way. -full blast.

The drone on the highway is ugly, but who cares.
I get a lot of "what is that?" "That car sounds killer" at the track.
I wear earplugs on the commute so I can still hear when I get there.
With a helmet on, it's fine without earplugs.
The decel popping is outrageous. -I love it!

No UPS truck here. :crazy2:

Thanks for all the input guys. I just can't see spending a couple grand just for sound. I am going to go with making my own with some kooks or cherry bombs. I am just worried about getting a CEL or messing something up. I live in LA and do not have a place to work on the car myself. I do have the best Viper guy ever (Dan Crager) But I just can't spend all that $$$$$$$ for sound. I have heard a few vipers with Cat backs and was very un impressed with the sound level. So that route is just out of the question. I am a louder the better guy. My goal is to have the people at the stop lights roll up their windows and think I'm a A$%&OLE for having such a obnoxious car! Before I bought my Viper I had people tell me how helpful other owners are and MAN WERE THE RIGHT! You guys all rock!!!!!

I got a bonus at work and dropped it on Belanger headers and exhaust. Man it sounds so dang sweet, and loud. I had an old lady in a car behind me at a light waving frantically every time I blipped the throttle. I almost felt bad.

Hell yes! I'm in the same boat and am having a custom exhaust fitted up to my Belanger headers.
