Someone posted a video of himself circling Manhattan and got arrested for it... I didn't think 24 minutes was that fast around the FDR and WSH but apparently it was quick enough to get charged with "reckless endangerment, reckless driving, traffic device violation, moved from lane unsafely, follow too close and speeding."

Landmarked roadways, timestamping the video, posting it on youtube... DOH! :nono:

George Orwell was right.... He just got the year wrong !

Of course self incrimination by posting a video doesn't help. Somehow with the incredible problems with gang activity and massive corruption by poltitcians you think the cops would have something better to do than chase this and that goes double DAs office.

Yet all these magazine - online videos by motor tend, drive etc show them doing burn outs and exceeding the speed limit. Breaking the law is breaking the law.. right?

I haven't watched the video, but does he make it obvious that he's driving the car? If he just had the camera set up over his shoulder and did the drive they can't necessarily prove it was him. Even if he said his name during the drive, that's no different than me sitting in my car saying someone else's name and driving fast.

What you should have said is "Be careful driving your car around Manhattan and don't drive like an idiot." I saw that video and whoever was driving was endangering others on the road. Save it for the track!

If you video yourself doing something stupid and illegal, then post it on the internet for the world to see, you'll get no sympathy from me when you get caught. Plus, he's Canadian. That right there should land him in jail

Haha I guess the southern part of NYS doesn't have antipathy for Canada, but I certainly agree with the rest of your point -- and this guy was clearly trying to get the attention.

BUT -- his average speed on the trip was only 66mph (according to every NYNews outlet that picked it up yesterday). That's over the limit, but not so far over that none of us can relate... :smirk:

Exactly, unless he admitted to driving the car or the video shows his face and there is proof that it was him driving, this is all just a waste of taxpayers money.

If he is an idiot and admits that he was driving, throw the book at him, not just for speeding but for being an idiot.

Basically this is like what the authorities wanted to do on toll roads by timing you between booths with EZPass and it was shot down. A good lawyer should get him off.

This guy is a ***** imo. There Is a place and time for everything. Not on public roads. Ok if you wanted to prove something like that in NYC then do it in rush hour traffic. :omg:
