Yesterday, a dozen of us or so cruised together down to the World Trade Center site to pay our respects for fallen PAPD Officer Lt. Robert Cirri. Some of Roberts' family members also joined us on the cruise and we drove across the Lincoln Tunnel to the Javitz Center. Bobby held a brief drivers meeting and we were introduced to Frank, one of Roberts fellow officers that was with him on duty that day. I'm sure Bobby will share some of the smaller details later on.

After the meeting we started to make our way down. It was quite a fun and amazing time being a pace vehicle to get a dozen Vipers down a highway in NYC! But we stayed together. We parked the cars, then headed down the garage and walked to the site. Bobby shared some stories and we took a ton of photos. It's amazing to see how much lower Manhattan has changed in a dozen years. I remember going down there shortly after 9-11 and seeing trucks and construction equipment digging away at the debris. You see the images of what has changed down there on TV, but until you see it for yourself it's so different. Still the hardest thing to imagine walking around down there is how many buildings, sidewalks, stores, churches, firehouses, etc had been covered in dust. If you stop on a corner and picture a five block radius all powdery and white, then stop and look around to see what's in front of you now, it really takes you back a bit. I saw the smoke across the river, I still can't imagine being there that day.

About an hour after we spent visiting the site it was time to head back over to Jersey for lunch but I witnessed something I've never experienced before in my life.

Now, we can all say we've experienced Viper 'fan-fare' at least ONCE. At a gas station, on the road and in some cases as it was mentioned yesterday, even our own driveways.

I went to VOI 12. I was shocked to see, what about, 800 Vipers all in one parking lot? That was sight.

That doesn't compare to this...

A Jeep, a BMW Z3, 12 Vipers and a Magnum all with decals Bobby had made up for the cars. All headed up Trinity Street. PEOPLE JUST EVERYWHERE, tourist and locals, taking pictures and videos and talking about the cars. Stop and go traffic *****, it's a city thing, BUT you guys have to experience that kind of feeling. That just rocked. :headbang:

We made our way back into New Jersey and had lunch at Dino and Harry's. We relaxed, talk about the days events and eventually parted ways. Again, I have to thank Bobby for inviting me and it was great to catch up and see some old friends I haven't seen in years or even VOI. Steve, Charlie, Adel, Mark, Bob, Rob it was great seeing you all! It was great to meet some new folks as well.

Great pictures! Too bad we missed you guys. We are in NYC, and just happened to have visited the World Trade Center site today around 4 p.m. My wifes birthday and a trip to the Big Apple is what she wanted for a present....and what a great choice. Love this place. People are great and neverending things to see and do. Plan on coming back next year, but drive my car instead of flying. :usa:
