Well I decided to take my GenIV to the local 1/8th mile tonight. I had planned on running 7.x @ 100mph or so. Never drag raced this car or even really launched it so I needed seat time badly. Get there, and first hit ever in the car is a 6.9x, so I started making passes and chipping away at it the best I could. I ended up leaving before getting it dialed in, made a total of 5 passes. I think the car has a mid 6.7x in it pretty easily with some more seat time.

Mods are.

-Dallas Performance Hand ported heads
-Dallas Performance hand ported intake
-Full Belanger exhaust with cats
-MGW shifter
-K&N
-Mopar ECU
-3:55 gears

I was running factory front wheels with 18" CCW rears, on 345/35/18 MT's

Here are all the slips. I would like to think in good air with more seat time the car with go a 6.7x and a 10.5x but who knows.

I do have full confidence the car will go in the 1.5x 60foot on this combo.

Great job, that should be well into the 10s in the 1/4. Get some 6.7s and you pretty close to a mid 10.

I think with more seat time that a 6.75 is very possible.

Man this thing is begging for 100 shot

Tell us how your launches went. What rpm and clutch method worked best? Slipping it, or more like a dump at higher rpm?

Nice car a very nice runs!!!!! We're are you located?

Thats the fun/tricky part!

I started off around 3000rpms and slipped the clutch for the first 100 or so feet. People around even saw clutch smoke. That led to a 1.9x 60'. Ended up figuring out the best method for my car and my driving style was leaving at around 5000rpms and slipping the clutch very little, probably the first 20-30 feet or so. But it was still bogging when I would get out of it, thats when it was going consistent 1.62. With the proper slip or leaving at 5500rpms I think It will go a pretty serious 60ft man. These 345 MT's hook!

Why don't you come up to Sonoma Raceway and run the 1/4 mile in the Viper Vette shootout Oct 16. Seems nobody is interested in this area. I ran 11.65 last time out with my gen3 best time 11.55 I will be there even if I have to race alone.

Good info on the RPM, Will. I believe the Gen 5 launch control also uses a 5500 rpm starting point. Likely it is no coincidence that you found that rpm range to work the best. I can't wait for our track rental day in Oct.

Yeah thats going to be a good time, are you taking both cars? I'm really itching to put 100 shot on this thing now, maybe send my intake to Dave for a Direct port.

Hi, I know every car will be different and my setup is the 20" NT05R DRs instead of the MT DRs. But what was the tire pressures that you were playing with?

Planning on taking my Paxton 03 vert to Topeka's 1/4 mile track this coming sunday and just wanted to be prepared with some more info.

I was running between 18-19lbs in the tires.

Awesome. If my V was done or Viper had spray I would have signed up. I think I'll end up getting the V in the low 9's and this Viper in the high 9's

I am surprised to see tracks letting Vipers run 11.50 or below without Rollbars (real roll bars I might ad.) I can't get away with it at Sonoma Raceway. that's why I quit trying to go faster now it's just trying to be on my dial times every time. For sometime I was trying to make all the right adjustment to keep the dial times on track but I have come to realize to no avail that the motor and the sensors make all the adjustments for me so I just go full throttle. I find some very weak links in the Viper diff and axles although I have been running OS Giken and solid axles I still have issues with breaking parts. Both axles and one output shaft have been wasted. I run M&H drag radials @18 psi with line locks to heat them up. In Sonoma if you drop below 11.5 major rules come into play which make the car a race car only. I just want to add one more thing Its a Blast to run down the 1/4mile strip. I am going to look at my 1/8 mile times adn see what they are. my top 1/4 mph is 123. Good luck be safe.

Viper04. I will make another thread when I get that slip

Hopefully I dont embarrass myself out there.

And as far as tech and getting the boot for going 11.5 or faster without a roll bar. I have been booted in other cars many times. I think back then it was 11.99 or faster then they changed it.

On busy nights you can sometimes get away with it. If they only let me do one pass and boot me I won't be too angry. Rules are rules

Edit. My fwd civic ran 6.6 in the 1/8 at 116 and 9.85 quarter at 155. Ya traction problems :) people laugh when I tell them my civic is faster than the viper. Lots of non believers

NHRA amended the rules for 2008+ coupes. Slower than 9.99 and 135mph are good without cage.

Funny things happen. Back a couple years at Sonoma Raceway I was trying to level the playing field between gear boxes and automatics. Automatics are no brainers. Well they said they would give it a try and see so they had made a lane for gear boxes only calling it the gear jammers. It caught on rather quickly and now has one of the largest staging lines of the entire group. The funny thing is the smaller cars seem to do better than the bigger faster cars. A friend of mine has a beat up old toyota that leaks water smokes and runs over 18 seconds in the 1/4 mile and he wins a lot more than I have. Its not about speed in this game. I try to be the same every time but the Viper have so much power that I think more things come into play than a car that can't even spin there tires in the water trap. No matter I always run flat out leaving at 2500 rpm and follow the shift light as close as possible but still not getting matching times. Its also somewhat strange to see thiese 4 bangers leave the line seconds ahead of you and your left trying to catch them at the end. I really prefer more of a match race like other Vipers, Z06's and Super charged mustangs where dial times are more equal. The race is much more fun.

Canyon, if you are talking about bracket racing, of course a low hp auto car is going to be easier to run on the dial than a manual high hp car. Even launching too aggressive and blowing the tires off will cause you to lose in the first 60 feet.

I personally can't STAND bracket racing/index racing classes. I know why they are there but it's not fun for me. I prefer heads up racing run what you brung within a certain set of rules and guidelines. That's exciting to me.

I completely agree with you you but not available at Sonoma. I love the practice session before the dial in. You just got to run what they offer. Still fun win or lose. Looking forward to the Oct 16 match races with vettes and Vipers.

Yes, maybe a few other small things as well but most likely not. I think 9's is possible on a small shot

Be interested to see if you can actualy get nitrous to work I don't think anyone has yet on a gen 4

I know of 2 cars that had it working on the street, neither of them ever took it to the track.

Gen 4 has no problem running nitrous. Just depends on how it is installed and set up. The fact is that few people have even attempted it, which is why you don't really hear much about it.

I've read about two different people trying and car went into limp mode after the nitrous was used and then the gear switched?
