Drove home late the other nite and the pully cracked and threw the belt off. That plastic pulley is wonderful. I cant believe it came from the factory that way.
I ordered the Billet ps pulley and bracket from jonB. Whats involved taking off the old one and putting it on the new one. Break off the old one? lol
My question is How strong/durable is the stock ps pump.. Should I replace it, and do I go aftermarket.
The other question is can I run it without PS. and just put on a shorter belt.

Press off old pulley, press on new pulley. There is no reason to change pump. Install new bracket. If you have the remover/install puller kit it will take you about an hour. I would not recommend running without a p/s belt

Removing the pulley can range from easy, to a full on hassle involving cutting it off. Over the years, I have not heard of people discussing aftermarket pumps. Mostly, stuff external to the pump fails, likely due to heat and vibration. Never heard of running without the power steering running. I imagine that would be very tough to steer in a parking lot.

Get both the pulley and pump bracket replaced. Remove the pump so you can cut the metal hub off and put on the new pulley without moving the pump shaft. Is JonB's pulley IPSCO Mark's?
