I just installed my new AH regulator this morning. A little difficult getting it in the door opening, but finally managed. That is the toughest part of the whole job. Thanks to Mark Jorgensen for getting me one as soon as they were available. But I hope they are better than the original. My original broke at the plastic covering the cable. This new one looks just like the old one as far as the plastic covering, so I can only hope other changes were made to help the problem. At least the cost a lot less than the old replacements.

As NDSnake has mentioned - it is difficult getting the regulator in the door opening. I would caution everyone to be patient and not force the issue. Some have mentioned that taking off all of the upper window trim and snaking the longer arm of the assembly up and partially out of the window opening will help getting it in. With the old regulator assembly - you can cause stress to the tube or even break the tube if you tried to force it in ..... ask me how I know ..... :omg:.

Just got my passenger side replaced today under my Maxcare Warranty. Part # 4865610AH.

My techs last name was Fangman no kidding :headbang:

09 ACR right side window regulator. Ordered from VPA and replaced in less than an hour no issues, pretty easy and works great. Any questions please ask.

I may have a few questions shortly. My driver side crapped out hard, I have one on order from VPA at the moment. Hoping it gets here soon, the days left for cruising are coming to an end shortly.

Don't roll your windows down. :dunno:

Do it yourself to do it right. Likely the new part is damaged while being installed. Reinforce the stress points on the new regulator before installation as posted above.

This is where I'm at right now and I'm about to burn the car to the ground and just buy a new one. Do you have any details on how you made yours fit? Which end went in first? The long end can't really be snaked out of the window slit, because of the bolt that is there to bolt it to the door frame. Otherwise this would be very simple. I've tried going in both different ways and had success with neither, seems like the only way to do it is to force it to the point that it's going to break, no wonder there is so many failures on this thing. Doesn't matter which end goes in first it seems, you run out of room to be able to get the other end in once you get the first end in as far as it can go.

Any tips or tricks? here is obviously a way to do it, I just haven't had the patience to get to it myself yet. My back is killing me.


EDIT- Nevermind. Apparently rage makes my depth perception a little funky too. Took a breather and went out to tackle it again. The long end(front side) can slip up just enough through the window slit like you said. And voila it folds right in there with a little massaging. No time to bolt it all up before work now, but the hard part is done. :)

Would be a great help to everyone if a DIY tutorial/video would be made for the installation of a new regulator.

I've got nothing great for recording equipment, but I was going to snap some pics here before I actually bolt anything up, and then hopefully get a simple DIY together. I'm working straight nights though for another month still, so just don't expect it to be up really quick. But I will get it done.

Wow! Just finished my right side passenger regulator. Maybe an hour at this point. I haven't put the door panel back on just yet because I am replacing the stereo next. Panel is probably 15-20 minutes at worst. The only thing is be patient. The write up viktimize did helped. I just took everything out then put the new one back in and just left it loose until I was sure everything was started. Doesn't matter how the old one comes but the new one was a bit of technique. I put the front track in the hole. The tube is at the top. Try to roll the top of the track forward as far to the front of the door as you can. The motor will follow. Rotate it a bit counter clockwise (right side)just enough to get the rear track into the hole in the door. Once you do this you have it. Just finesse it,not force it in a bind.Start the nuts on the studs once in place and hook the power back up. This way you can raise and lower the window as needed to get the c clip back on and line the rear holes up for the bolts on the rear of the window. Check everything out before you double check the bolt torques. Not as bad as I was dreading. My car is a blue 06 convertible with 32k miles. My old regulator has a tag that says 18/06/07. Does that mean 2007? I guess it was replaced before? Well this has been conquered for now. Thanks!

Well after reading all 15 pages of these it looks like its time to add one more Viper to the list.

2008 Coupe with 72K miles. 2K miles out of warranty... Yay!!!

My issue is a little different. It is passenger side (front....). The car was at a dealership getting some work down. All in all I wasn't happy with the overall condition they took care of my car but that's another issue. Anyways after picking the car up from the dealership the passenger window developed a crazy clunking noise. Like an idiot I was hoping this would be an issue that just "worked" itself out. Not the case. Only got worse. The window would only roll halfway up and almost all the way down. It still did the auto-drop even though it was halfway up. Not a clue how or why it did this nor do I care.

I was out in the garage tonight very optimistic I would find a clip broke or missing (See Latamud reply on page 7). Not the case. I got the entire assembly out which wasn't super hard just a bit tedious. I bench tested the assembly and sure enough same result. Without the window or anything it would still run about halfway up, make a grinding grunting noise then quit as it if it reached the top although it didn't.

So my question is what is the current best place/pricing on these? Also is there a current replacement that is better other then the part numbers listed previously in this thread?

The ones listed in VCA Parts of America (for $376) are supposedly the latest version (re-designed from the previous crappy version). It says "the latest and greatest version" I don't know the P/N of the old version so give them a call to make sure you're getting the newest version.

Another Victim. Lost my passenger side regulator while out on a nice drive with my wife this weekend. Tubing broke. Part is on the way. Has anyone solved this yet or do I need to be prepared to do this again?? It seems to be quite common. No sense starting a new thread when there are so many old ones.

I just replaced my second regulator, drivers side this time...and from what I understand it is what it is...

Unbelievable. I'm still with my oem's on my '03. I get nervous rolling the windows up and down. At least I have a Viper-brother close by (in Plano) who is now a 'pro' at installing these....

I'm in the same boat. Almost 70k on my car now and don't think the regulators have ever been done. Granted I've only had it for a year and a half, but they seem to be holding up okay. Wonder if maybe someone in the factory installed them different and preloaded them more than someone else.

Me too. 32,000 on my 03, and while the driver's side "may" be starting to go, I'm very careful. I don't use the auto-down feature all the way, I stop it, and then gently touch the button to lower the windows. I also leave a tiny bit of window showing at the top of the frame. So far, so good.

Add one more to the list, new to me 09 Coupe, passenger side grinding and eating the A-piller rubber seal when window is moving into the close positing :(

2006 Coupe with only 3600 miles: so far have had to replace driver side twice, now 600 miles later, need to replace for a third time! Also '05 vert had to be replaced with 2500 miles. This is just down right unacceptable!

For you guys going through multiples like this, I'm guessing whoever installs it just forces it too hard and cracks the tubing on install.

Hi some post ago I talked about reinforcing the tubes. Well I am now 10.000miles further and everything ok so far. Believe me here in Belgium my windows travel a lot up and down due to our weather.

So if you can reinforce the tubing so it gets less stress and reinforce the plastic housing of the gear it will be fine.

I have the Mopar extended warranty on my car, but they told me the part is backordered with no estimated time frame for when it will be available. The part number I was given is 4865610AH. I was told that if I could track it down, Chrysler might allow my dealership to buy it from the other dealership as part of the warranty service.

I'm pretty sure Chrysler Corp. and their dealerships have the ability to check other dealerships for stock and parts.
Sounds like they just want you to go away.
