Saturday took the '92 Viper to a nearby car show. Driving over, idle was very erratic tach swinging between 200 and 1000 rpm, had a definite miss on light throttle in any gear but ran great under moderate or hard acceleration.
On the drive back it ran fine with none of the antics of the drive to the car show.....Any ideas?....ECU issue??
Got 2nd place in its class, i guess i got docked the 10 points for not having the thing that looks like a poor toupee that came with the car for a top!!

Not sure, but it sounds like the ECU hadn't figured out the idle. If you've disconnected the battery lately I'd recommend going through the "retraining" procedure.

This is the first time that the idle issue has showed up. Battery has not been disconnected or run flat in the time that I have had the car. When not fully up to operating temperature it has been 'jerky' in first gear(where it acts like it shuts down momentarily) but a quick shift to 2nd seems to be the cure. I know that the PO replaced the plugs and the fuel filter.
What is the 'retraining' program???

Search on adjusting the throttle cables. Sounds like they are out of sync.
