BBG Dual Disc Clutch install and reivew

Decided to upgrade my clutch before I have a chance to blow up my factory one. As soon as I break this bad boy in, the car is going in for a smaller blower pulley install along with some more tuning. Shooting for 850RWHP on 91 octane.

Bad Boyz Garage was recommended for their bad ass clutch set ups. Let me tell you, this thing is bad fkn ass. Dual disc racing clutch, good to 1300lbs tq and the pedal feels lighter then stock! Best way I can compare this too is a stock Corvette C6 clutch.

The car also feels so much smoother as it pulls through he RPMs and even when your just cruising on the free way, zero drive train vibration, not that there was much to begine with but. You can feel how well balanced this set up is.

A 1,000HP Viper doesn't have to be a pain in the ass to drive and with this clutch set up, its not.

Fast turn around with great progress pics as the car was being worked on. I cannot say enough of how satisfied I am with Bad Boyz Garage and their product!

Its a few lbs lighter right? Any effects on shifting? I've been told the heavy factory setup is what makes these cars so easy to flat shift

It is a lot lighter. I weighed mine compared with the stocker.

Stock Gen 3 w/ flywheel = 65.5 lbs
BBG w/ flywheel = 45.5 lbs

Big difference. No issues shifting it. It has held up to my abuse for over a year.

I dealt with BBG on a set of headers and Ported mani and buying from them was one of the best experiences i had with a vendor ever !
they have very good products for the viper too . I guess i will be ordering one soon .

Does anyone know what the Gen IV clutch/flywheel weighs? I recall it being said the Gen V setup is 15 pounds lighter than the Gen IV?

Todd has some of the best parts that even go beyond normal thinking. Todd and I have been good friends for several years. We met at a Sunday Car show and immediately became friends because that's just how he is. The rack in the picture with your car on it is now a dyno station I just was there yesterday helping him set up and relocate some of his lifts. To make a long story short this guy goes the extra mile on every detail. We did a drag clutch on my 04 twin disk carbon fiber a couple years back and I love it and its very easy on the street as well. We also put on his ported manifold, it's powder coated black. I never did dyno it before so can really say what gains I achieved, but very nice porting.

I've been running Toddy's BBG Stage II clutch for over a year and absolutely LOVE IT. I got a kick out of the notes he puts on the clutch/flywheel parts to help in the assembly. Quality product from a top notch vendor.

How is this assembly holding up at the strip with high RPM dumps on drag radials? If it is doing well, it may appear the Gen V could use it.

Wow 20Lbs is a huge difference! Can't wait to see more testing might be my next purchase!

Not sure what you mean by more testing. BBG has been around for a long time and they make clutch and other parts directly for MOPAR.

I agree. That's why I said it appears that the Gen V could use it. Then Gen V has everything to make a 10 second run except for the clutch/flywheel assembly to allow a good launch. Aside from the limp mode of course. :)

Gentlemen,

Our clutch kits have been factory approved for 3 full race seasons of the SRT Viper Cup, ran a 7:03 time slip at Nurburgring in Chrysler's ACR-X driven by Kuno Wittmer, ran the Targa Newfoundland ralley in Ralph Giles ACR-X, are the clutch kits that convinced Chrysler to factory install a billet aluminum flywheel in the G5 Viper and thoroughly destruction tested by Team SRT and survived the task with flying colors.. Just ask Dick Winkles, Matt Bejnarowicz or Gary Johnson who head up SRT Motorsports... I state these venues only to clarify that our (BBG) clutch kits are race proven.

For the Forced Induction Viper's we've actually increased our hub thickness to ensure total reliability at our 1300 torque rating.. Evolving the performance of our clutch kits is a continual process at BBG.

We have also developed a "Triple Disc Clutch" for the 1400 HP - 1500 HP plus Viper crowd ready for machining.. Our new triple disc will be very similar in driving characteristics of our current dual disc which will completely change Viper owners opinions of what a high performance clutch should drive like..:2tu:

You should make a demo video. Put one of your assemblies in a Gen V, go to a track on some good tires, and run a solid 10. I'd bet you sell several kits within a day of posting the video.

I have a BBG triple disk clutch in my 04 and drag it here in Sonoma Raceway. I can tell you it wont break. You will break other things first.

I'm pretty sure Toddy's clutch is the only thing I haven't broken on my '08 track car.....:rolaugh:

The BBG Clutch/flywheel have worked great for me....!
