Went to an invitation only SRT Viper Driving experience today in West Palm Beach. Turn out was low as this was the first one on their list of stops and my invitation arrived today. I only found out about it because a friend got his invite last Tuesday. So a lot of potential buyers are going to be disappointed when they get their notice in today's mail only to find out SRT has packed up and moved on to the next stop, which will be Chattanooga, TN on Nov. 15th. The good news is the car is great. I got to drive a 2013 SRT w/track pack both on the highway and in the city for about 15 minutes. It still is a Viper at heart and I thoroughly enjoyed the drive. They are looking for feedback and trying to get people in the cars. I am not really a fit and finish person. For me it's all about function. The things that were the most notable for me were, 1. Seat sits unusually high. 2. Car is as loud as a GEN III or IV with headers. Doesn't bother me in the least but the stereo crowd won't be amused. 3. First gear in the trans is too tall totally negates the 3:55 gears on the launch. They need to put back the first gear that's in the Gen IV. Lastly I have changed my mind on the transmission. SRT should keep it manual. Even though it is slower I still love rowing the gears, it makes it a Viper and connects you more with the car.

For the 1-3pm session 4-5 people for 8 Vipers. They were surprised that the letters were so late getting out and asked that I let SRT know. Did you get one Bob? It's one page titled SRT All Access with stops in 9 cities.

Atlanta Nov 16th, Houston Nov 20th, Dallas/Fort Worth Nov 22nd, Phoenix Dec 6th, San Diego Dec 9th, Los Angeles Dec 12th and San Jose Dec 14th. This is a driving event to experience the car on the road not any type of racing or autocross.

I saw this on SRT's Twitter feed and registered last Thursday for Nov. 15th in Chattanooga. Got zero response and they even mailed me an invite today in the mail with a number to call. Called and stated I filled out my info and wanted to confirm as I have customer visits in Chattanooga that day I will plan around. Phone support asked a couple more questions and stated they would e-mail out confirmations. I get the impression they are not very organized right now with this...

Anyone here going to Chattanooga? I registered for the 10-12 time and headed down from Knoxville.

I agree with this. Watching the latest videos from "That Racing Channel" in the white Gen V reminded me of this. It's part of what makes a Viper a Viper. Big V10, RWD, stick shift.

Thanks Ray. I never got one. It would have been so easy for SRT to have used the local club's email list to send out a message. If not that email list, SRT itself has a list of emails for those who have signed up to get SRT announcements. I am also on that list. I hate to say it but it looks like another botched marketing effort or more people would have been there. Hopefully it works out better in other cities.

Are they going to do this next year? What about the rest of the country? I would like to know if and when they are going to do this in the chicago area. I would be interested I am considering a Gen 5 not right now but maybe in the future.

This is sad, the poor Viper isn't being given a chance. I think they need to use whatever budget is left for the vehicle and upgrade every Viper to TA specs. They are having a hard enough time selling one variation let alone 3 now. When a car is low production and was already struggling, it might best best to put your best foot forward from the get go. I think they could still redeem themselves, it will costs something up front, but a whole lot less than a ton of Vipers sitting on lots.

I think the initial Viper should have been a GTS/TA hybrid. Just a Viper, let the only options be taking stuff out for the track, track wheels/tires, interior design and paint colors. Put big brakes, CF bits and duck wing on all of them, make people delete it. They went too Euro with all of these options IMO. I think that car for 100-120k (pending options) would have been a hit, it would have done much better in the magazine tests too and paved the way for an ACR.

I just hope the Viper doesn't disappear. Unless they are going to create a new concept, which makes no sense after all of this effort. A ground up build will costs a fortune.

Or you could have registered from the invite and be in limbo on a response...not sure what is worse or what process they follow. Kudos for letting potential buyers drive the new car, but they don't seem too have this very organized as I'm only going to Chattannoga for other business so timing worked out well.

Christ, you people will complain about everything about this car.

SRT is altering their strategy

Yep, still complaining about SRT.

I don't even understand why all you debbie downers even come to the Gen V forum, do you just need to complain about something?

Kudos to SRT for doing what needs to be done - some hiccups obviously as the invites seemed to get out a bit late, but finally they are getting butts in seats.

I went to the event yesterday in palm beach. I feel that they did a good job. I of course wished it has been at a track but it did let us see how the cars handle daily driving. People should not be so negative.

Here's my feedback...I bought a top of the line ACR in the time during bankruptcy to help the company out and I never got an invitation to an SRT event. I've bought several other new cars, including Porsche and Ferrari and let me say it is a totally different BUYER/owner's experience...Its water under the bridge to me, but if I was SRT and trying to get new customers into the G5, I would look at changing old practices with my own customer base for starters. It sounds like same old song and dance to me from OP story.

Events are pretty limited from the mailers I have seen, only places in FL, TX, TN, and CA from what I recall.

I'd guess you can call 888-SRT-TEAM if you want and sign up.

I got the mailer the other day but knew about it from our club a few weeks ago. When I found out it wasn't going to be track I passed, I thought it would be driving around a parking lot like VOI. Sounds like it was better than that as people got real world seat time.

So, Ray? What's your plan??

Hey, go back and read the posts before you judge someone. I've been an avid supporter of SRT and still am. But the Viper is not selling well, and it's likely going to be non-existent if something doesn't change. You call this doing what needs to be done? An event where the people they want to be there aren't being notified on time if at all? There is no denying the release, media presentation and advertising of this car has left much to be desired. If you think there haven't been any missteps, you need to take your SRT glasses off. I support them, but at the same time, it's time for them to do the car justice (outside of building a great car, which they already have) on the customer relations side, because after all that is the goal, to get them to customers right?

Do you know why an email was not sent out to the local club members if it was known about a few weeks ago?

For anyone wanting to register you can:

1 - Register Online http://www.drivesrt.com/all-access/events
2 - Call SRT All-Access Concierge at 248-553-2458

Again, I first saw this on a twitter feed. Not sure how I got on the mailing list but got a mailed invite Monday. They did finally confirm my time/details that I regsiterd for and I'm looking foward to checking it out...and not just kicking the tires in the showroom.

Hopefully it's only because the mid Atlantic isn't on the schedule as the reason why I feel like a red headed step child with no invite or heads up. You'd think the club would be in the loop though but ...Not to complain but it's seeking typical now if the marketing dept that nothing can happen without a hiccup, invites sent after an event, the designers and builders of SRT really deserve a better marketing dept. it must be driving them crazy. Pun intended.

I just checked today's mail. My All Acess invitation was in it. I have no idea who was responsible for mailing the invitations but, once again, whoever that was, was obviously incompetent. So now we have the lousy prep for the first Motor Trend test. The lousy prep for the Best of 12 Motor Trend test and now this. From a Fiat shareholder's point of view, this is outrageous. What the h**l is going on and why is it still happening?

I think it is just too cold. I'd hope they get up north once spring rolls around.

I still think they should have had cars at the ALMS races for people to give a go in.

ALMS would've been tremendous. Yea, I hope it's the weather and we have a shot in the spring. I'd love to get more time than what we had at VOI, although I really appreciated that a lot.

Attended this morning in Chattanooga and got to spend some time in both a GTS and SRT w/Track Pack driving 15-20min through and around the city. Glad I did it in the AM as it rained later in the afternoon! Overall I was impressed with the car and had a good time so kudos to SRT.
