Got my Viper

Hello all, new to the forum. I picked up a 2005 SRT-10 Roadster with 12,000 miles on it and love it. I have owned quite a few American sports cars, but the Viper is a different beast! I got what I believe to be a great deal for $44,000. The car is in fantastic shape and includes oil changes for life!

Thanks everyone! Ya, as long as I am in Tucson every 3000 miles or 3 months if I want, I get a free oil change. The dealership uses what the manufacturer recommends, which in this case is MB1 Synthetic!

The $44,000 also included all the paint touched up, scratches (not many) fixed, and a wet sand!

Congrats on it you will love it ! After driving it for awhile you might want to get rid of the cross over pipe if it is not already gone to get rid of the heat.

Free oil change for life? Yeah, up to 5 quarts of Quaker State 10W-30 or 5w-30 conventional oil and a regular (non-Viper) Mopar oil filter. LOL

Go with a Corsa system if you don't mind spending a few $$$ more and don't want the annoying drone you'll get with the Mopar system.

No, it is what the MFR recommends. I verified with my buddy who is a Finance Manager. They do Diesels too, which are almost as expensive!

What is "MFR"? My response was intended to come across as sarcasm but the main reason in my 14 years of Viper ownership, this is first I've (and probably most of the other Viper owners who frequent this forum) ever heard of "free oil changes for life" on a Viper. There are some dealership that charge as much as $200.

Also you cant do tire rotations on the Viper. The fronts and rears are different sized rims and different aspect ratio and width tires.

Some tires like the Cup I think are not directional so you would be able to rotate left to right if you wanted to.

Ask them to switch it out for free alignments instead!

Congrats I just got my 05 vert 1 year ago after waiting my entire life and I haven't had a regret at all yet.

Mine is under extended factory warranty until 2017 and I just hit 10k miles : ) Ive only had the passenger window regulator replaced because it was noisy, did not fail. No other issues

MFR is my abbreviation for manufacturer. This is part of the Jim Click Automotive Group maintenance for life program and I am definitely aware of how much it costs....or in my case won't cost. I guess there is a first time for everything. Jim Click is awesome! One of my tire pressure sensors was bad and they replaced all 4.

IDM, thanks! I am definitely aware of the do not rotate the tires (had a few vettes too), that is why I had the LOL after it. I do appreciate it though, as I know you were just looking out for the new guy! Also, my driver regulator was doing the same thing when I first got it....but has seemed to work itself out and is quiet now. Probably from sitting for a bit.

I have life time oil changes for my '12 Jeep Rubicon and have purchased them for all the jeeps I have bought. The dealers never offered them for the Viper. I also purchased lifetime oil changes for my Harley Davidson F350 diesel. Always felt the service dept resented the truck oil changes because the diesel took something like 15 or 16 quarts of synthetic oil. Probably get the same resistance to lifetime Viper oil changes.

I hear ya, it helps that one of my buddies is a manager and I have bought 8 cars from them over the last 12 years. I have a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and 2003 (100th Anniv) V-Rod. You have good ******** friend! The other thing is I won't put a lot of yearly miles on the car....probably 5000 or less, so for them it won't be any more expensive than another car that is driven more as far as price is concerned. It all evens out. Actually most of the time my buddy just swaps vehicles with me and drives it in to get the oil change.
