Probably considerably more to it than slapping on some aero and a tune. it's lighter, not heavier. Suspension changed, probably tranny as well.
GT-R guys are saying 140-160K so not sure where these other prices came from.
Don't forget, they have a global marketplace unlike the Viper. They'll sell them.

Lighter is easy on a GT-R, change the wheels and super heavy runflats, exhaust, racing seats, battery and you'll easier be lighter than the Nismo. The aftermarket is no longer a bunch of hack jobs throwing stuff together. I bet you if you take your Gen 3 or 4 Viper to Archer racing, and give them 20k they can make it as fast or faster than an ACR. If you think I'm lying look at Keith Procuik's car, easily as fast as an ACR. He has a built motor, but not running any power a slightly modded Gen 3/4 can make. Now granted the Gen 4 ACR wasn't that much more expensive so it's different cost wise (the acr is one of the best deals ever), but in this case, you most certainly can take it to a reputable GT-R tuner and have it made faster. The factory has limitations that the aftermarket does not, and they are regularly easily surpassed.

The black edition is 120k now, and even the cost of that is going to rise again. Unlikely Nissan let's this go for less than 160.

There's a McLaren dealer going in across from our Porsche dealership. In talking with those guys they said they contacted the manufacturer about the ring time as they have sold some P1's and the customers want to know. McLaren told them the P1 ran a 6:47 on street tires and a 6:33 on slicks. The only reason there holding back on releasing the time is because there waiting for Ferrari to release the LaFerrari's time first so Ferrari doesn't use their time as a benchmark and try and go beat it"

Try this. The GT-R on the street will **** a stock Viper of any year. Stop light to stop light or at the drag strip. many will run 10's out of the box. Everytime. That's called ruling the street and there is no argument. Secondly, the 2012 GT=R ran the Ring in 7.19.1 which equals the ZR1 and it wasn't this Nismo race version which will be 575 HP at least, lighter have better gearing and more aero. Nissan has full warranties on their transmissions and has for years whether you use launch control or not. Clear? There are a lot more important factors than just horsepower. AWD TT and 575+ HP will destroy virtually everything out there.

Jon you do speak the truth and are not even close to being a troll. What you mentioned is just knowing your audience and what the Viper is really up against. Points well taken. The Viper really will have its hands full when it comes to the Nismo GTR. Anyone who doesn't at least consider this is delusional. I hope that SRT really steps it up but it will be tough for sure. This era is a difficult era to compete in as there are some companies with some awfully big R&D teams with extremely deep pockets.

No doubt that the Nissan has great performance but you have to admit that it is one of the least, if not the least, attractive car in its performance class. It's a subjective thing but it is not an inspired design.

For the life of me I don't understand why Nissan does not put that performance in a car that looks like a super car since it surely performs like one.

Ring Spling.....who give a hell since the P1 was not even a production unit yet and the Nismo GTR is about a year away and not even close to being a US legal production unit yet. I love seeing manufacturers going to the Ring with both prototype and production cars, but don't run a prototype that is not even available for purchase and say it is a Ring record against a US legal production vehicle equivalent. If a manufacturer can't make a US legal production vehicle then who cars if the Ring is a record or not.

And McLaren is now on the automotive map as the worlds biggest PU$$Y

You run a Ring attempt and claim it is "under 7:00"......that's like being in high school and claiming you're dating a super model, but she lives in Milan, Italy so none of your friends can meet her. I don't doubt that the Mac P1 will go under 7:00, but holy hell, McLaren boss Ron Dennis has again put his fat foot in his mouth claiming crap that may not even be possible on street legal tires. Rumor is it did not run anywhere near as fast as old Dennis was bragging about before the attempt. At least Porsche had the guts to post up their time.

Cheers,
George
