Here is an email that all of us members received minutes ago with this quote in bold...

"We want to emphasize that we are looking for loyal VCA supporters to take over existing VCA regions that have chosen to disassociate. As of this writing, some regional presidents have notified us that they are not renewing their memberships with the VCA in 2014. FYI, we have now received membership renewals in every state in the USA. Your region can continue to thrive in 2014, but we need your help! Please contact any of us to discuss further. We have already found new leadership in several areas to keep their VCA region alive and well.

This is why us Canadians set ourselves apart from many. Why we would choose to support a club that has obviously, in the plain of day, ripped us off , and why any one of you would is beyond me.

Are they going to delete this thread because it does not follow their rules?? ARE THEY?/ Probably. When what is really being said here is straight from the horses mouth. Their own. They have continues to leave us out as they have all you Americans as well with no magazines, no funding to our regions etc....oh yes... they resolved those problems now, now after the fact, when they got caught. lol..now they are trying to draw all you poor suckers in for a renewal...lmao.
Well not me, I was born one day, not yesterday. I will not join a club that does not recognize my country , which by the way supported them through all the years, and put the Chrysler brand in the number one spot in Canada, and we get this kind of treatment.

I would like an explanation from a director to this thread write here on this thread, not a private message or just deleting it so no one sees the truth. If it is a new club with transparency, then let it be right here in the open. Lets see the reasoning behind the disrespect for us Canadians. Let it be heard.

As a paid member and a new improved open discussion club,,,,im waiting for the answer.

A little context might help. I am sure that the email is already public. Note that it is also signed by the Director from Switzerland.

Dear VCA members
The number of renewals that we have received since you read our Q&A letter a few days ago has been remarkable! Thank you! The outpouring of support has been wonderful and VERY much appreciated. Let’s keep up the enthusiasm! If you have not yet renewed, please do so today at www.viperclub.org Some of us are members of multiple car clubs, so why not consider dual membership? We have no problem with you being a member of multiple car clubs. Many of you have written personal letters thanking us for the many changes we have made so that the VCA will be a better club than ever before. Now that you have seen what the new national board has been able to accomplish over the past 3 months, imagine what the new national board can do over the next year with YOUR help. Your positive feedback makes this all worthwhile. All these changes have been made for YOU, our members.
We wanted to let you know that we are having a VCA Planning Meeting the weekend of Jan 24, 25, 26 scheduled around the Rolex 24 hour race taking place that weekend at Daytona International Speedway. FYI, this is NOT for VCA officers only but for all VCA members with the passion and desire to help us move the club forward and improve the club. We’d like to invite all VCA members who are available to join us that weekend to watch the race and participate in some open discussions with the new VCA leadership group on how to best move the VCA forward during 2014. This is a great opportunity to have some fun, meet other VCA members, get involved with the club and help us improve the VCA brand! Please let us know if you’d like to attend. SRT will be present and we’re working on a joint race event with them. Details to follow...

Lastly, in the spirit of the holidays and recognizing that many of us could do more to help others, we national officers have each chosen to write a check for $100.00 to the Wounded Warriors Project. Please join us if you can. We each plan to write “Viper Club of America” on the memo line of our checks to show our support for our heroes. Or, if you prefer, you can simply write “Viper Nation” to show our group’s support.

So, you say "here is an email that all of us members received" and then you purposely do not post part of it. Why did you disguise that fact? Do you have ulterior motives?

Then you appear to be enraged because Canadians were not mentioned in the email. Holy crap you folks are sensitive up there !. The letter is signed by a Swiss guy. I'm betting he is not upset that the Swiss weren't mentioned. Those Brits and Japanese and French and Germans and Italians will probably be up in arms next !

Jeez, did you know it is Christmas time? Did you know that it is time for goodwill toward all? The VCA email is very polite, concilatory towards members that might have dual memberships, and mentions that, at least in the States, so far, they have received memberships from every state. That means that not every one in at least each of the USA regions wants to disassociate themselves from the VCA. Perhaps a reasonable person might think that is true about Canadians, even if none yet have signed up with the VCA. Or maybe they have and someone just forgot. Damn it, why do so many people believe that there are conspirators out there around every corner trying to take advantage of them, or insult them or ignore them?

Yes, I voted for VOA because I knew that people like this would never ever give up on hating the VCA and they would need/want a club that they aren't angry about all the time, at least at first. It is just so surprising how deep seated the hatred is, for it to come up over an email like this.

Maybe they were going to say, "every state and every province" but nobody from BC (or another area of Canada) has signed up yet so they couldn't claim that. Don't be so paranoid. ;)

It may also be that many Canadians have renewed their VCA membership, but they use their USA residence address instead of their Passport country. It may also mean that many Canadians have renewed, but this was not addressed.

Just as some people yell "racist" to advance their agenda, maybe someone is likewise yelling "nationalist"

The post simply says that they have received membership renewals from every state in the USA. Nothing more was intended or inferred.

Would think some of you would have a little more understanding for Canadians considering 1/2 the country Snow Birds in AZ/FL/CA in the Winter. As a dual Citizen myself, I have to say that just because it is not important to us as a US Citizen, don't make the mistake that it is not important to Canadians in their country or others in their respective country. They are just as active and caring members as those states side. They contribute as much as well so there should be no disrespect in a club response like this. It is times like this when I get embarrassed at the extreme ignorance some of my fellow Americans carry forth in life as was evident in some of these responses. The fact some people can't, nor are willing to understand the hatred or anger at this point is still a major part of the problem here to start with.

LOL, this one is a new twist! I've been called corrupt and a crook today, now I'm a Canadian hater.

Slither- Deepest apologies, no intent to disparage Canada was meant. It was an oversight, as well as the fact that we do have membership renewals in Germany, and other countries.

Let the letter now state (please, again apologies) that we do indeed have renewals in every state AND every Province.

There is no excuse for it, we simply, for brevity sake, included only the states. I can't make that assertion for ALL countries yet, since they renew later, but we have MOST of the countries covered, including Australia, which wasn't mentioned above.

For the record, Vancouver and Toronto are 2 of my favorite cities on Earth, and Canadian women are simply the best around....

Please accept our apologies for the oversight, there is absolutely no intent to deceive or to appear non-inclusive, our actual intent is to be the opposite (ALL inclusive), in stark contrast to other organizations.

WOW...its quick witty responses like yours that make the VCA a place for all. One reason things have gone the way they have in the last little while. Your a great promoter. Keep up the good work.

Wow.....when does this stop? Do you really think it was intentional?

It was not intentional no, but this is something that has been festering among Canadians for a long while. I also didn't leave out the rest of the email intentionaly, as the point was to highlight the missing word (provinces) which was understood by Insane1 in a later post here. We have never been respected through the VCA for years and even the smallest mistake now as in leaving us out of a sentence puts icing on the cake. You obviously don't understand because it was and never has been happening to any of you Americans as you have been always included and respected among the VCA. Even Chrysler does not show respect to us after we put them the number 1 car company up here. They continue to void warranties for New cars brought from the US. Why? We will never know as its the same car that is brought here that is sold there. We hold the same standards you guys do and in some cases better. This is after all the VCA, A for America. We out here are just affiliates right. Its not the email and the fact that we were left out of the sentence. It is not that we are sensitive, it is a long time battle among ourselves up here to not be recognized among the club for years. Thus why the regions did not renew in Canada. It something you guys have never felt. So I do not blame most of your posts here because its obvious you don't understand.
the only one that seems to understand it coloViper and Insane1 up above. Thanks for understanding and making peace. For you other haters and misinformed, keep up the good work here and enjoy. I am not a VCA hater, I still do love the VCA but, I am not going to sty in a relationship where I am not respected or have never been. None of you would either.

So now that you got your answer in short order, what do you have to say. Hopefully a bit embarrassed.

Not embarrassed at all. Iinfact its nice to see some people know what I am talking about. For people like you its obviously something that goes right over your head and under your feet. I don't blame you as you can only comment in a way that you only know how. Well done. maybe out of your 2680 posts you would have followed the lack of respect us Canadians have had for many years here in the VCA. Obviously you have not and now, don't have to worry about as all the regions in Canada have chosen otherwise. keep up the posts Camfab and gain more respect. Its the VCA way isn't it. Or it seems that way
to some of you.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE !!!!!!!!

I think that you are a bit confused. There is a North, Central and South America. So the name Viper Club of America by definition includes all three geographic regions. All Canadians are also Americans. Admittedly many people from all of America, who are somewhat ignorant of the origin of the word, think it only applies to citizens of the United states. But those who chose the name originally were not ignorant about this. Some of those who chose it are some of your new club's leaders. As to why there is a difference regarding Viper sales and warranty enforcement in Canada and in the U.S., it would be great if someone at Chrysler could explain this. It has always been odd to me too. I can understand your feeling discriminated against.

Keep in mind that Ralph is from Canada so I doubt it is a Chrysler institutional issue. It has to be a legal issue that for some reason cannot be resolved.

I remember when VCA had a free membership to the VCA on the purchase of a NEW Viper, I factory ordered my 08 SSG roadster and waited 15 months for delivery. Got the necessary documents sent in to get my Free VCA membership and low and behold ONLY IN THE USA. Kind of funny as I spend more for my membership as the USA (exchange rate). Then I remember getting a nice letter in the 08 VCA notes that we use to get, AFFILIATE program on the purchase of other Chrysler,Dodge,Jeep vehicles. Well I am in the market for a new 3500 Ram. Filled out the neccesary forms and got to the country, Only for USA Residents. Membership has its priveleges. I as a Canadian Viper Owner have felt for a long long time that we have been SUCKING THE HIND *** for along time (Mines gone dry) and we always will when it comes to Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Or SRT.

Bob with all due respect , Other manufacturers Honour cross border warranty ,Chrysler Will Not , so the legal issue does not make sense . Also factor in the Charger ,Challenger, 300 ,and Magnum made here in Canada , if brought back to Canada will have Zero Honoured Warranty . A simple change in policy would correct this issue .

It is truely very odd. Reid Bigland is, like Ralph, a Canadian and he is Chairman,President and CEO of Chrysler Canada, Inc. Look at his CV below. So if it is not a legal issue, it is a Canadian who is apparently allowing this to continue. Maybe you could do a polite, respectful group letter asking for clarification. I hope this information helps you.

Reid Bigland [h=4]Head of U.S. Sales, Chrysler Group LLC[/h][h=4]Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer - Chrysler Canada Inc.[/h][h=4]President and Chief Executive Officer - Ram Truck Brand, Chrysler Group LLC[/h] Reid Bigland currently holds three distinct Senior Management roles with Chrysler Group LLC. He is Chrysler’s Head of U.S. Sales Operations, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Chrysler Canada Inc. and President and CEO of the of the Company’s Ram Truck Brand.

Mr. Bigland was appointed Chairman, President and CEO of Chrysler Canada in July 2006 where he is currently responsible for Chrysler’s entire Canadian Commercial operations and legal entity. In June 2011 Mr. Bigland was named Head of U.S. Sales for Chrysler Group LLC responsible for the Company’s U.S. Sales Strategy, Dealer Relations, Order Facilitation, Incentives and Field Operations. In addition, he was named President and CEO of Chrysler Group’s Ram Truck Brand in April 2013. Reid is also a member of the Fiat/Chrysler Global Group Executive Council (GEC) which is the highest ranking decision making body within the Fiat/Chrysler organization.

Prior to Mr. Bigland’s current roles, he was President and CEO of the Dodge Brand from June 2011-April 2013. Prior to joining Chrysler, he was President of Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation, a South Carolina – based company.

Specifically, Mr. Bigland’s professional experience is as follows:

You will see these same type of posts on the Harley forums. Some times it is not the Manufacturer that makes these decisions, but the Master franchiser distributor in Canada along with their respective governments that set the tax, safety equipment, emissions and other policies. One country will allow steering wheels only on the right, others on the left, and some don't care.

When I lived in Detroit, we would be going over the border all the time to buy things that were less expensive in Canada. Alcohol, cigarettes, and sometimes gasoline were cheaper in Canada. Would often change due to local taxes and expecially the exchange rate. We even would drive down to Ohio because you could drink legally there at 18 instead of 21.

Canadians would also cross over to Detroit to do shopping for items that were cheaper in the States.

As this got to be uncomfortable for each sides, they began to regulate items, especially automobiles to protect each regions dealership networks. Dealers on each side were upset at people buying the cars where they were the cheapest, but wanting their own local dealership networks getting stuck doing all the after sale warranty work.

I am sure that Chrysler would like to have transparent and perfectly equal warranty service throughout all the Americas, but usually it is not possible due to different countries desire to maintain control of sales in their respective regions.

With the internet, people can easily order new and used items from all over the world. But when you need to have your items registered by local legal authorities, then it often makes it more difficult to shop around for the best deals.
