You would be surprised at the number of times I have heard "nice Vette" from both men and women. I just smile and say thanks. Sometimes I scratch m head and look around for a Vette...

When I first bought my gen III it had the gas light on so I pulled in to fill it up and that was the first compliment I got on the car after not even owning it for 15 minutes, "nice vette."

I have no idea how someone could mistake a Viper for a Vette. My wife says the Viper is the best looking car I've owned.

Before putting it away for the winter, I was at a gas station and heard a girl yell and point at my car "Viper! Viper!" to her boyfriend. I was actually impressed she knew the car.

well, i can understand if this mistake are made here in italy or europe where this cars (corvette, viper, mustang, etc.) are very rare..

By the way, here, people (ladies but some guy too) confuse Ferrari with Lambo..or fake exotic cars with real exotic cars..

Ladies don't care which is the car brand...or if is fake...It is important that her friends see her in this cars!

I find that most of the cute ones will look away indifferently....so they're not in jeopardy of being acknowledged as looking. Too bad.

I got asked one time "is that a new Corvette" I replied no, it's a Corvette eater. The man with the woman asked well what kinda of car is it then, I replied its a Viper. He nodded yes and said "yep it's a Corvette eater".

Positive. The only negative is when one or two have tried to down play any preconceived golddigger assumptions.

Naturally everyone appreciates when someone else likes their stuff be it a car, house or whatever. But that's cake. I didn't buy my Vipers to satisfy anyone but me.

This.

I'm old, so most of the women that I hang around with (in their 40's) think that its a "ridiculous boy car"; its red, its loud, its fast.....they think I ought to be driving a 750IL or something more appropriate. Hell with them!

The Gen 3's and 4's (non ACR's) do look a little Vettish to the untrained eye. Ahem...being a Gen 2 guy, I've never encountered that problem. I did give my 88 year old grandmother a ride home not long ago. The car was warming up in the driveway as I walked her out to help her get in the car. She said "I really like your fancy car son, but can you please turn the noise down on it?"

Most don't say a thing, but the ones that do are happy to tell you... so Im never sure what they are thinking.
It doesn't matter to me anyway.
