I'll be happy to place that bet actually. If you consider that the car will be superior because only the numbers that are better will be released while the inferior ones will be withheld, then yes, by all means you can claim the new Z06 superiority, LOL. And as I said, there is no surprise that a PORTION of specs may be superior due to auto tranny but in the end, this is just a sad testimony to the new Corvette's failure overall. I do not mind though, the worse the Stingray looks, the better the Viper looks and so far, in the raw performance and true to the no compromise sports car principle, the new Viper is already leaps and bounds ahead of any current or upcoming version of Stingray.:)
All i can say is in every concievable test a ZR-1 is on hand to be run against the new Z06( much like Ford did when the develop the FGT and had a Ferrarri 360 on site)Question for you is ANY RECENT GENERATION of any car not superior to the past gen?

I'm guessing he has an older Vette and like most they are in complete denial the new C7 looks, performs and is better in EVERY respect than their old car. It's a common malady called "my resale value *****" syndrome.

OK, let me pick: lower weight, Nurburgring time, 0-60 MANUAL VS. MANUAL and higher top speed. Let me know when you are ready for the wager.

You got it and you just lost every thing with the exception of the Ring .The only reason you didnt lose that was because the new Z06 hasnt been run there yet

The new Z06, per Chevys own statements, has not even been finalized yet. Doesn't it make sense to wait until there is a car that is production spec that is actually tested by a third party and then discuss it?

Also, there is no way the Z06, once finalized, is going to be less than at least 90K. The Z28 Camaro starts at 75K.

BTW, the new Nissan super car starts at$151,585.00 and is just as fugly at that price as it is at the price of the lesser GTRs. But it is very, very fast.

It really comes down to whatever floats your particular boat within the context of the amount of your automobile budget..

Bob when you consider who my source is and his resume i am pretty confident he wouldnt lie to me.Also with the car do out in less than a year its pretty much finalized awaiting EPA cert With the Ford GT John Coletti invited myself and Joe Houss to a prototype test session about 10 months before introd a it was 99d% of the finalized 05 car .LOL My business patner was probably the first civilian to ever drive one

Ill Agree with Peter here - which year ZR1 and what tires?

No doubt the Z06 will be fast. I may look at an auto one myself.

OK, you agree with Peter there may be some question about the "Mule" C7Z06 legitimately beating the C6 ZR1's record at Milford, and which Peter claims, no way can beat the previous generation C6 ZR1, but you want one? I guess slow is the new fast, lol!

I lost, hmmm. Says you or can produce some actual figures? Are they verified by anyone or is this another belief based on assurance? Feel free to post them, just make sure which level of new Z06 those figures apply to:2tu: Do you have the ring time for the base Stingray? If my memory does not fail, it was tested at the ring in September and October. Go on, disclose some actual facts, who knows, maybe I'll warm up to that new Z06, as it is, I am ice cold after seeing the base car several times. Are you sure that all of the "superior" figures come from the same Z06? Curious which ground effects level is the jack of all trades. LOL

I never claimed it cannot beat a previous record, you may want to read more carefully. I simply requested info on the actual ZR1 that was used as the benchmark. I think this is a fair question? Also, regarding that mule. How about some specifics? According to GM, Z06 comes with THREE LEVELS of ground effects, one includes a well pronounced Gurney flap which without any doubt will add a lot of drag, with matching drag up front. So do you know the specifics or just repeat mindlessly what others say? This seems to be the prevailing theme around here. :crazy2:

Yes, I may buy a C7Z. I don't really care about track records like some obsess over - they are an interesting data point but meh.

Yes, the ZR1 got more aggressive rubber by end of life, which is why it took 5 years to set a record at Laguna Seca which was promptly beat by the TA. It is a point of curiosity, which year of the ZR1 did the C7Z beat?

"The upcoming Z06 will never ever outperform the ZR1, it will be lucky to outperform the last Z06." Your statement! Now did it outperform the ZR1 in it's very first outing or not? Whatever configuration, it did outperform the ZR1, just like the TA outperformed the ZR1 at L.S. No excuses!

Honesty, I don't know, but I do know they did not make any major changes to the C6 ZR1 drivetrain and the Michelin cup tires are what they've been using at least since 2012, which would make the C7 Z06 performance even more significant. It is very doubtful that GM would use anything less than a fully optimized suspension and tires. Why would they manipulate at track record set by their flagship Corvette? For sales? Sooner or later they are going to have to meet up with the Viper, and if it's not up to the competition, sales would plummet!

There is a waiting list for the new C7 Z06 and this is before the price has even been announced. It is going to be one very fast track machine, and I'm guessing 85-90 base price (without the CC brakes) and extensive aerodynamics.

Gheez, this is not getting anywhere, is it? You know nothing about the actual "mule" and you do not know anything about the ZR1, yet, you go on mindlessly repeating what Tadge said. Maybe the new Z06 did it on ethanol? LMAO...

Hmmm, so you know the year of ZR1 being compared by Tadge or assuming again? As I said before, Tadge is a bull**** artist, he was quite vocal about ethanol being Stingray's "secret weapon", the guy has a history of making bull**** claims and lacks credibility, unless you spend your time drinking the kool aid he serves instead of keeping track of his track record (pun fully intended). Cannot wait for the mule to obliterate the ring record next, LMFAO.

You apparently know more than the Chief Engineer for Corvette, and you must know everything about the "mule" to make your assumptions. Tadge Jeuchter said it's the fastest, most track capable Corvette, and that it beat the ZR1's track record in it's first outing. That's the bottom line Peter!

Are you an automotive engineer? Do you have specific details about the testing and set up of the C7Z06? I'm gonna guess no on both of those questions and go with the man, that does. I'm just not into conspiracy theories, sorry! Let's wait and see when the C7Z06 is official performance data is released, or just continue you rant over Tadge Jeuchter. I can hang in here as long as you can, so have at it!

If you want to talk about a corvette why don't you post in that form. If you want to discuss the gen v then please put something useful in the thread.
