hi all , mrbob here . still cold outside . thinking of what things to look at come spring time , my main concern is the oil pressure , seams low when warmed up . 10 to 20 lbs. and the oil light went on . i replaced the pressure switch and changed oil to 20 x 50 castrol syntec . oil light is out when warm up at idle and goes to 40 lbs.when reved up . took one valve cover off to make sure it was oiling the top end and when running it shot oil to the top of my garage , should i worry about it ? has a mobile 1 filter . thanks to all

My 1996RT/10 runs about 18 psig hot with 0W40 oil at idle in the summer. It runs about 25 psig at idle hot in the summer with 20W50 synthetic racing oil. My car does not like the thin mess even in the winter. It makes less valve noise with thicker oils in all service conditions.

Make sure the car is on a level surface when topping off. You should be putting in 10.5 quarts on the GEN1 assuming 92' - 95'. Keep a close eye on it as I never had my oil light come on in my old 94' and I tracked it. Next time, put in Mobile One 15w50 oil as per Dick Winkles suggestion.

We saw Dick at Christmas, He said that 0w-40 Pennoil is the oil to use, Not Mobile 1 any longer. There were 26 of us there. we asked allot of questions about this topic. & 05-40 in NOT even close as to 0-40 w. totaly different addatives. BTW. I just bought some ( could not find 0w-40w Pennoil anywhere, the Dealer has it for 11.00 qt. I found it on Amazon for less than 9.00 qt.

When I asked Dick about low pressure issues in my GEN1 last summer, he said 15w50 Mobile 1. Went to the stuff and never had low pressure problems again. The only REAL reason SRT went to Pennzoil is because Fiat and Ferrari have a contract. They can't tell you that, but I asked Dick if Corporate had any influence on their oil decision, and I got a smirk and nod. The added bonus was that Pennzoil’s 0w40 is slightly superior to Mobile 1 0w40, but they don't have a proven superior 15w50 racing oil. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but my V10's not going to be the guinea pig. Nobody has had engine trouble in their GEN1 from using Mobile 1 in 20 years, it was designed to use it. How many years has SRT been testing Pennzoil in a GEN1/2 compared to Mobile 1?

On the flip side, Corporate mandated ditching Michelin for Pirelli, and now GEN5's have an inferior tire and GM has likely locked Michelin from ever selling SRT the PSC2. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't.

Check with Pep Boys, I ordered 11 qts of Pennzoil 10W-30 for my Gen 3 from my local Pep Boys. Takes a few days for them to get it in (should be in tomorrow), it was about $9/qt.

New guy here, with a new to me 94 Viper. I have been reading all I can to learn this beast, my Viper came with a service manual and it states 8 quarts with filter. Just checking what is correct so I can go buy more oil before changing it since I only bought 8.

My 1995 service manual states 10 qts with filter. Yours should be the same. I have always put in 10 qts and it's on the full mark.

9000 miles on my 1993 RT... Drop the oil every Sept - average about 700 miles a season. 10 quarts of 10/30 mobile one why change a good thing.
