Hey guys, just closed a deal on a 2001 Blue/Silver 19,000 miles.
I just need some advice as to any immediate safety upgrades I need to make.
180degree thermostat for example? I know that was an issue on older models..Anything I need to know on 2001 compared to 96 model? Had one many years ago..Loved it!..
Thank you and its good to be back!

Beautiful color combo !!

Watch for water pump failure...we changed ours out before we had a problem.

Consider power steering pulley and bracket upgrade to billet before failure...can do st same time as water pump.

Thanks for the advice, I'll see if the previous owner changed it or I'll take care of it.
I hope to have the car by Monday, I'll take some pictures then. Thanks again!

Are you in AZ by chance? There's a nice sapphire blue / silver with 19k for sale down here :)

I'm from Gilbert, and picking up my B/W GTS this Saturday from Cali. PM me so we can meet up!

Gotcha, yeah it's right down the street from me, but I haven't checked it out.

Looks clean in the pictures, good luck with it!

TIRES TIRES TIRES - if the tires are older than 5 years, replace them (top priority). Consider changing all fluids if there are no maintenance records that reflect recent fluid changes (radiator, transmission, differential, brake fluid flush, clutch fluid flush. Several posts on recommend fluids /brands, viscosities, etc. CONGRATULATIONS and welcome to the Viper Community!!

I had Eddie Martin take a look at it before I bought it. He had serviced it before and gave it the go ahead. Thank you for all the posts and congrats to the rest of the new Viper owners!

Congrats! I also have an 01 sapphire/silver GTS out there at my house in Gilbert. I'm back in Chicago now but should be in AZ soon. Lets plan on meeting up at some point.

Marty.

I'd love to but I live in Co. having it shipped to me. Have you had to make any necessary upgrades to your 01?

DuDe, Tires check the Date Codes you want soft Rubber not hard lol.. Also CRANK BOLT!!!!!!! I hand no clue about the Viper Crank Bolts issues till I Lost my Accessories doing 135mph and thought I through my belt. Long story short its been in the shop costing my 85 and hour to fix or replace the crank, Either way im looking at a $1500-$2000 repair.

Enjoy the Ride, Get used to looks (especially angry ones from vette owners).. Look for cruises.. Noting better then cruising with other Vipers, Get to know the Forum, and have fun and keep your Wheels straight!
