Hello all

Thinking of an exhaust mod on a very low mileage 97 GTS (5K) all stock

IS there any mods that i can do to keep the integrity of the vehicle?

NOt looking for headers.. maybe something that can be returned to stock if i decide to sell

I feel if i "chop " into the car it loses its value for the next buyer

Thank You

I'm picking up a showroom B/W 97 this weekend, and my first mod will be cat/resonator delete, and replaced with a straight pipe. Will keep the stock mufflers :)

Our 97 blue/white has a Corsa cat-back system. Plug and play...no cuts required. I put all parts in attic, can return to stock anytime.

I like the sound at idle and at speed. There is no more drone with windows up.

Wife prefers Borla cat-back on her 99 and 01...much louder...some drone. Again, take off parts are here...can easily go to stock if desired.

Bought a 02 GTS in December, first mod was a B&B cat back and M&M headers. The stock headers and exhaust can be re-installed at any time I desire. Also waiting on some GEN III Greg Good Heads & cam, purchased an additional intake to be ported which enables me to return to stock if necessary. In my opinion the GEN II GTS is just to beautiful and iconic to not be producing at least 500 rwhp.

I just cut my side cats and resonators off my 99 GTS ACR with only 1,150 miles on it. Hope that helps you :)

I have a '97 b/w with about 15K on it. The mods are a K&N air filter, B&M shifter, RT cats, and a Corsa. It runs and sounds great.

Unless the new buyer wants an all original GTS.

IMO if you're concerned over future value, or like in my case, the ability to go back to 100% factory perfect - remove, save and replace, don't cut.

"NO one" - Really? I'm with Steve-Indy (actually his wife). I have the Borla on my '97. Sounds great and someone could take it back to stock if desired. The Borla does have a drone but that is not unusual for Borla. Borla has a bit "throatier" sound if that is what you want. The Corsa is more refined with no drone.

I have Borla on my Viper and Corsa on my Vette. Seems to fit the cars personality (IMHO). I like them both and wouldn't change either (and both are better than the stock exhaust).

Full Corsa replacement was one of the most popular options, mostly due to the better sound, better performance, good quality, and most of all...no drone.

Lots of other possibilities, mostly depending on how loud and agressive you want to go.

Other popular option was to remove that small resonator/muffler thingy back near the rear of the car. Many put in short straight pipes with a cross over for a better sound. Problem is cutting them out makes it hard to put them back in as you want to be able to do.

Would go with Corsa and be done with it.

^^^^^this^^^^^

Corsa is plenty loud with a nice decel burble, and without the drone.....and they fit perfect. I cut the huge/heavy stock cats off and went with Random Techs, which made the side sills much cooler and they flow better.
