I have them on my car with just about everything else dan has developed. Top quality and look great. Well worth it.

I have front and back on my red 06 Coupe. They look good and actually very stock and not a distraction. Great for protecting my paint

didn't someone have real carbon fiber sets for sale?

At one time we tried to put together an order for CF versions, but the demand was not sufficient to get it done. The CF sheet needed to make them was very expensive, and most people just opt for the rubberized plastic version to beat up on without worry.

All that said, we are down to about 10 sets of fronts and 25 rears on the shelf right now, that is approaching a re-order for more. If there was ever a time for people to raise their hands and put a deposit down on CF ones for me to slip into the order block... it will probably be in early May.

Have these on my fronts and they pretty much do as advertised. 10 minute installation, no drilling, use factory holes. Was able to reuse the stock fasteners.

They seem just the right balance of not sticking out, yet providing a significantly better protection for your paint.

While they provide just a little bit of accent, on my dark grey color they look like they belong there, and do not really attract much attention.

They look factory, and that is pretty high praise for an inexpensive aftermarket piece that is functional.

Thanks Dan for making these. No need for the carbon fiber, as the black plastic does the trick for me.

:2tu: Sounds great Paul! Just came back from cars and coffee and saw some of the CF ones there. They do look great, but I'm looking for something more subtle.

I put them on the front only on my car and have Xpel clear behind the rear wheels. I was more concerned about the front tires sticking out significantly farther when the wheels are turned. Have worked great after a couple years being on the car.

I had an issue with mine where it cracked right across one of the bottom holes on the bottom of the front guards. The backs have held up okay aside from the one that got torn in half when I had a little "off-road incident". They're a nice touch for protecting stuff though. Mine don't conform as nicely to the fender as I'd like, so they get sand stuck behind them and the fenders. They get pulled tight at each fastener and have a slight gap between them and the fender in between fasteners.

Sorry to hear about your incidents, but those are surely impact related, lift arm/jack related, or started from the point of hammering the lower fasteners in place. These things can be twisted into pretzels without cracking under normal circumstances.

With regard to the conforming, you can help the issue by loosening two of the screws, and pushing the guard towards the screw that is still tight. You can also put some very thin foam in between, but this will likely make the problem worse, albeit fill any gap. In any case, I have never had a single set that I would consider "unacceptably gapped" after a few minutes of moving things around. There is not much more that can [or should] be done, as a flexible material is always going to deform around the points of pressure. If we make them more rigid, we will greatly reduce their resilience.

Agreed, I didn't really mean they were bad by any means, just my experience with them so far. I've had the wheels off my car so many times that I wouldn't be surprised if I caught them with a jack once or twice. Normal driving they hold up just fine. I was pretty impressed by the one that did tear off. You could tell it was a tough piece by the way it was all twisted up.

I tried loosening some screws once or twice and trying to get them to settle a little better, but didn't get very far and didn't mind too much. Thought about the foam as well but the only stuff I had on hand was too thick and as you said made it worse. Someone suggested just a slight bit of heat on them to maybe try to put a bit of a curve in them, but I haven't messed with trying anything yet.

question-with the outside portion of the stone guard does it touch a bit of the paint from the wheel well? if so does it ever scratch?

I am not 100% on what you are asking, but if you are asking if they "wrap" around the edge and cause scratches, the answer is no. The guard is flat and remains on the same plane as the screws.

also do u need to remove the wheels to install these on the front and rears?

They can be done with wheels on in the front, but must be off in the back. However, it is magnitudes more difficult with the front wheels on.

The CF ones from PartsRack.com are really nice looking. Not bulky at all. The CF is quality work also. I tried to post some pics but for some reason its not working.

Dont waist your money on these. Absolute junk and I made the mistake years ago in buying a set. Threw them out after I got the CF ones from PartsRack. They cover very little area and look cheap.

Wow, thanks for your candor 4 years later, I guess?

The only complaints I have on these are for fitment on Coupe Rears until that specific version is made, and the fact that I don't offer them in carbon, yet.

Funny, they have absolutely zero complaints on coverage or installed appearance other than yourself, hundreds of sets and hundreds of thousands of miles later. Perhaps you should go take a look under your sills, as the CF guards don't wrap underneath but maybe an inch. Ours reach 12" inches under, all the way past the original plate- way past the actual sill area. You should then take notes on the body geometry, and check the sill edge and tire positions. Here's a hint: You don't need a huge "flap" off the side of the sill to keep rocks off the sill face. Underneath however, is a different story. Do the math, and you will see that technically ours protect WAY more area than the CF versions.

If you want a part that does its job quietly; you use ours. If you want a CF piece that is attractive, flashy, and in your face; then you use the CF versions.

As mentioned before in this thread I have front and rear on my car and they have been great. Paint has remained unscathed.

I like Dan's guards a lot. They are just big enough to provide all the protection you need, but small enough to be completely inconspicuous. They are working because the sides of my car are totally clean, all the time. Before they were always dirty.

Noticing all the chips I have, I wish I had bought these from Day 1.

St.Char, I was under a bright blue 2008 Viper today that has had Dan's product on the front for the past 4+ years by my recollection. The underside of this Viper's sidesills looked great to me...the guards seemed to do a fine job on the rock-slinging PS2's !!

Steve, I think Greg should get those and also get the CF ones you and I have, so he can switch them back and forth every other week. Maybe that will keep him busy from detailing the living daylights out of his car every night! ;)
