Really?? Paxton is certified for CA? Gotta look into that, after I get my car on the road with heads/cam. Thanks.

Yup. I live in CA too and that really is our only options. You can do a heads and cam package with a mild cam and most likely the smog shop will never be the wiser but its still technically illegal. Just dont go and tell them you have heads and cam.

Paxtons are Carb legal and come with a EO# which basically makes it cali legal. You could also do a nitrous kit and hide most of it so the smog shop wouldn't notice. A paxton on top of your heads and cam package is about as much as you could do and still stay "CA legal".

Good info, thanks.
Right now, I just want my car finished and on the road. (Ported heads and manifold, larger valves, T&D rockers, light flywheel, 3.54 diff, gen 4 cats, degreed 708 cam, 10.3:1 compression)

Dan Cragin is wrapping up the installation and will have it dyno-tuned (hopefully next week!)

Again, just want the car back together and in my garage..

BUT, the mod-bug 2.0 will surely hit me in the future and adding a Paxton with IC and thicker head gaskets to drop the compression might be the best next step.

Call Dan Cragin.
Larger cam is not always better.. And, it should be closely aligned with other variables, such as the compression ratio, specific use, etc. I think Dan actually wrote in a thread here about that very topic not long ago. Use the search feature for his posts (user name: "Dan Cragin"

Consider getting more out of a cam with rockers with 1.7 ratio.

Consider Stryker heads, if you can find them. More expense but more power.

Greg Good is considered a top-notch head-porter. Multiple threads seems to indicate that he'*****-and-miss though (Doesn't return calls, long lead times, etc). I decided not to go with him after some discussions, but his work is supposed to be great.

Also, Vipers are known to have various cam degrees from factory. And, there is no way to adjust it unless you install aftermarket parts. This is labor intensive but a must to get the most out of a cam.. heck, to get the most power when tuning the car with any mods..

Again, Dan is the man, a call to him is a very good next step.. And, you can't go wrong with having him do the work.

Of all the stupid things I've done on this site, the stupidest by far was not using the research function prior to dropping some dough for parts.

I see all this blower love but factor the down the roadness. I personally would only buy a car that had heads off. I wouldn't want to ever buy a rebuilt car or one that was super or turbocharged unless I got a serious discount. The viper is fast enough as it is if you want a fast track car buy someone elses already done viper or a cheap c5 vette. I would only want forced induction on a toy and only if I could afford 2 vipers. Furthermore I have had my hand a some fast track cars and if you aren't destroying 95 percent of the cars out there with a stock viper then you are not driving it right. Driver mod spend 2500 on skip's school or like 10 full track weekends
