Sorry, I can't help you there. Here is the old interchange thread; but nothing listed for the lower ball joint other than a factory number, 4848174
http://forums.viperclub.org/threads/569146-Shared-parts-between-Vipers-and-other-brands.

I see that part listed on a few sites, including VPA; but, I assume you've checked those out. Snakeoyl has them listed also; but not under that part #. I would have suggested also contacting Jon at partsrack; but, that's a given.

Snake-Oyl Products has two different options for under $140....

Also.... the car that is likely close is a Dodge Dakota. I've done no homework though... don't know if the specs are the same...

The 4848174 was bumped to 4848174AB, and then bumped to 05290860AA... they appear to be in stock?

For some strange reason Chrysler states to replace the knuckle in 01-02 cars . Here is a bulletin posted when looking up 4848174

SERVICE 93-00 KNUCKLE BALLJOINT WITH
4848174AB

FOR 01-02 USE 5086712AA FOR RH & 5086713AA FOR LH
2003 VEHS USE 5086730AA FOR RH & 5086731AA FOR LH

Whats odd though is the 5086712AA/5086713AA knuckles are used from 92-02 so technically the 4848174AB ball joint should be fine to use

So will the 05290860AA work in my pass rear lower one??

According to my listing no, The complete knuckle must be changed. Now although our info is Chrysler official and 95% correct maybe some guys have had luck retrofitting this?? But I cannot recommend it.

My earlier post was about the Ball joint part number only... The 2002 parts guide is showing only full knuckle replacement as MoparOnlineParts mentioned. There may have been a design change that dictated a non serviceable joint?

I think Viper98912 answered this for both of us but I have not had a chance to dig into it myself but it makes complete sense

tryin to remember what the number was on mine, the ball joint has some type of coating and a corrosion washer on the top, threw the washer away and went to howe ball joints instead so only have to replace the guts in the future, phone howe or check summit racing
