97 GTS temp seems to getting high? Help

Hello, I have a 97 GTS and I have noticed the temp seems to be high when I am not driving. I am getting concerned. Not sure what I should do first. here is a pic after a 20 minute drive today. As soon as I assume normal interstate driving it goes to about 190 but this looks too high in the pic. Does that water wetter stuff lower the temp at all?

Fluid flush and make sure both bottles (pressure and overflow) are at the proper levels. After filling the system make sure you burp it as needed.

Common issue in Gen2s. You need to "burp" your system. The procedure is in the how to section. Basically air gets trapped in the upper hoses, so you need balance your system between the overflow (in the bumper, or burb bottle) and the main reservoir. It takes time and patience, I've had it so bad in mine it took ~20 squeezes to get it all out...

I would not jump to conclusions just yet..read on..

Your temp is not that high. Take my advise, use a pyrometer on the radiator neck to see the" real number" temperature. You will find the dash gage can be off by as much as 5-15 plus degrees ..

Below was the temp # on my gage, but the pyrometers read 191-192 degrees. I used three different pyrometers or temp probes to test the real temp on my car. They all read between 191-2 degrees. So my gage is off by a lot in my opinion

Mine looks the same in town. Is the 3/4 hash mark before the red 220*F? Does the 2nd fan kick on at 220?

If you haven't done so, change the filler cap. Get a MOPAR one.

Temps of 220-230 degrees in stop and go traffic with AC on are normal in warm weather. There are ways to make the car run cooler, but if it does not overheat (boil over) there really is not an issue. They removed the yellow on the gauge on the later Gen 1's as everyone was worried it would go into the yellow!
