1997 Dodge Viper RT10 - 1 of 117 - VERY rare year http://www.theviperregistry.org/build.php

33k miles - yes it gets driven in nice weather!!
smooth tubes
magnaflow high flow cats
magnaflow catback
borla tips
Runs perfect with no mechanical issues - everything works on the car
ZERO accidents, completely clean carfax with good maintenance history

Not really looking at selling it but just curious what you all feel the car is worth? I know most will say "whatever someone will pay" but I am just curious your thoughts. NADA book looks a bit high but I dont know. High Retail says $45,800

here are some pics

That's a pretty wide spread regarding the value. By no means an expert, but $38K seems reasonable for a well cared for 97. If memory serves me, it's a full on Gen II with a smoothie hood.

I paid 25k for my 97 rt last year. All stock with 38k miles. Mine does not have the soft top, just the hard top.

danny that is a STEAL!!! I would never let mine go for that cheap. You will make some coin when you go to sell it for sure! Nice find.

Hello folks!

I was a VCA member from the very beginning until around 2004. Life got in the way for a while but now I have a little more time to look around.

I purused the forums and ran across this thread, since this year and model is my favorite of them all.

Of the '97 RT10 owners, is any of you fine folks keeping a separate registry of these cars. They are quite special as you well know. But as there are only 117 owners (or less) the audience is quite limited.

Just checking to see who is around to talk to................

Thanks for letting me hang with you guys!:):)

Best, Bret.

yep, all gen 2 but the hood (and maybe the steering wheel, shift knob and ebrake handle from a 96)

Your hood is still a Gen II hood, but didn't get finished out with the NACA and vents. The 1997 is all Gen II top to bottom.

You bet, the '97 was a transitional year moving from New Mack to Conner Ave. True the coupes had the NACA but the RT/10's did not. They did however have the gen II front nose clip, ie: the bottom lip stuck out further than the grille. Not so with the prior (1996) RT/10.:)

Ops car has 33k miles, smooth tubes, and chrome lettering on the side.Ebay one only has 22K. I would say it's a different one.

Yes, I could never figure this out. Seems they are quick to undervalue their cars. Glad I am not the only one that noticed this.

It's called being realistic.
Hoping for some pie in the sky price because you feel it's a collectible is great unless you really want to sell it.
The market for older generation Vipers is spit thin so be prepared for real world shock.
I would put the value of the OP's car at 28-30K. And run to the bank if you get it.

In Eastern PA Vipers are seldon seen in the wild. This is confusing to me because (used examples) are high performance, comfortable for a sports car, are beautiful and a bargain, IMHO.

I believe the day will come when folks "get it"................:) With about 18k Gen I & II's you wont pass yourself on the road.

Well, if you want to know another 1997 R/T owner, I am...a Red Canadian edition with hard top...glad to be part of the 117 happy owner.
About the price it's worth....it's in the eye of the beholder...
I wouldn't pay a dime for a 1997 vette but I wouldn't mind putting $$$ on a 1997 Viper.

$30-32k if you actually want to sell it. If you want it to sit for months, $35-37k

I ended up trading-in mine in the end. It had 26k miles, Borla catback, roe cats, same smooth tubes, hardtop and softtop, Gen3 wheels, and was lowered 1 inch. Was Zaino'd everytime I took it out and it looked and sounded awesome. Inside was like new too.
Faced a lot of tire kickers and heard all kinds of stories about how they didn't have enough money to pay my asking price and all were first time Viper buyers. Realistically I would say to expect $28k to $31k depending on the condition and paperwork (receipts, manuals, window sticker, etc) you have. One of the common comments I got from folks looking at my car was that they preferred the hood with the vents to the smooth hood.

It takes a special buyer to appreciate a 97 RT, if you find them you may get mid 30's for it. To the typical viper buyer I'd be expecting upper 20s.
