So ... my mental treading water exercise at the moment is, shop a '14 at a discount or do a '15.

As we're heading into fall in the mid-atlantic.

I've talked to a few dealers on cars so far regarding '14s.

Examples are, GTSs with the $15k reset on MSRP plus another $13-14K discount, this is on 3 I was interested enough to call about.
For easy math, let's say were all originally priced at $128K (pre 15k reset), now talking about $99K or less, and one hinting he could do better, that was his first discount offer.

On a TA, they're talking in the mid $90s, I didn't push on that one hard, just that they started at $99, I pushed a little and a few grand fell off immediately, so I'm thinking ...

Versus:

If I do a '15, I have a local dealer I talked to Sunday who said he'd order one right now for me, discounted off MSRP no problem. How much, he said we'd have to sit down & I didn't have time yesterday, following up today. But, if I did a TA 2.0 and he did just 5% off, that's like a $99.9k price on a TA 2.0, which seems killer. Or if I did a GT car, in Silver, plus aero, I'm even a little less and in the high $90's. (If I order I want the 5 mode electronic system, so TA or GT)

So, how much of a bargain buy do you think it'd take to make buying a '14 "smart" vs just ordering the '15? God knows I'd love to have the fall to play with it, but in 60-80 days it'll be hibernating for like 3mos.

I kind of feel like if I can do a car for $10k less now than it would be as a '15, then it makes sense, if it's close to what I'd order. I dunno, seems like a tough call since I keep waffling back & forth on this.

When will we see ordered '15s make it to buyers driveways?

Thx

Depends on what you want. A loaded GTS for the best deal possible, get a 13 that is out there ( the 14 gets you a rain mode in traction control for more money). If you want a remaining TA, jump o one now. If you want a TA 2.0, you have to wait anyways. I guess I would think the only reason to get a 15 is because of a color combo that was not available in earlier years as everything else is virtually the same unless targeting a TA.

Both scenarios are very tempting but you're going to be happier pulling the trigger sooner than later.

That said, I have a silver genIV with the black ACR wheels and because of my location (less inventory / fewer "deals") will likely order a '15. Currently you can only order the GT in black or silver so I will probably go black GT with aero and the standard polished rattlers this time around.

if there is a '14 out there with the options you like go for the '14. I wont upgrade my '13 now until I see a power increase. to me, color combos and suspension tweaks aren't enough

If you ordered a '15 GT in silver, when could you expect delivery?

Should be an awesome looking car! Why can you only order it in black or silver right now?

Get what YOU want...My understanding is 15 models won"t be in driveways until mid FEB... Only what I heard from my ***** local dealer... Maybe Bill at Woodhouse would have a much better idea. Plus I would buy it from him anyway. This way you know when it gets off the truck your deal all the century all of a sudden isn't honored.. Been there done that.....

The short answer would be to check with one of major Viper dealers or even call the SRT hotline if it still exists. We want to believe that the order system has been fixed; and that Dodge will do the very best they can with the potential increase in dealer orders due to all the new marketing initiatives, and the mandatory tools & training costs being reduced to about 5k from the previous 15k or 25k.

The system simply won't let you proceed unless one of those two colors are selected when ordering a GT. Maybe it's the 2015 version of "LE blue" & "adrenaline red"; or perhaps just a temporary glitch.

It's entirely possible for some 2015's to be in owners hands this calendar year; while other 2015 customer orders that are placed around the same time may not even get built at all ...

From the internal statement:

"Production of 2015 model year Viper cars will begin at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit in the second half of the fourth quarter of 2014. The 2015 model year Viper cars will begin arriving in dealerships in the first quarter of 2015."

The dealer says Feb. so if he does get one in Jan. he can call you with the "great news!" You will be so "pleasantly surprised" you'll race right over to sign the papers.

As to the OP, depends on what you want, what's available, and your personal situation.

I'm between 2 different cars right now and I can't/won't buy anything until springtime is much closer. I don't want (and don't currently have the space) to store another car. I sold a car yesterday I really don't want to get rid of, but there's no room for it. So, no matter what "deal" I could swing, won't happen for another 6+ months.

I also want to see the TA 2.0. I like/want the "added front dive planes" but I don't really want to drill holes in a car that doesn't have them already, just a personal thing to return/have the car "stock" for various reasons.
