Good article and especially like how they stated the huge sales increase percentage wise after the 15k price reduction. No brainer there.

What a bunch of putzes these fellows are. Look at the photos. They are wearing shorts. What person with a functioning brain tracks a car with shorts on. And they wonder why they got a little heat fronm the side sills getting in and out. Then there is the lack of an updated price for the TA on the chart. It does not reflect the 15K price reduction even though it is mentioned in the article.

The comment about the seating probably means that they did not know how to adjust the seat where more than just pushing buttons is involved.

The negative comment on the car by one staffer stating that he did not think the Gen V Viper had improved indicates that his driving skill set and his perception are both inferior. The Gen V is, by far, the best handling Viper yet and has, for the first time, nannytech to bail out the incorrect driving moves of the inexperienced or foolish.

I have been reading car mag articles for 57 years. Each year more and more sissified, poser "reporters" enter the mix who really do not have a clue as to what they are doing. Sorry to make such an understated and reserved post.

FYI, many track day organizers actually allow shorts for DE now, especially when it's hot. I wouldn't count that against them.

What should seriously be taken note of though is if the Viper had those trofeo's it would have been unstoppable. Even the MPSC 2.

Someone can choose to wear shorts but for that person to then complain that he or she got some heat on his or her exposed leg is idiotic. When I do any kind of track event I wear a pair of Simpson SFI 3-2A/5 pants. The cost was reasonable and the protection pretty good. I think that wearing them or something similar ( one piece racing suit with or without a cooling system) is always a far more sensible thing to do whether the organizers allow shorts or not. S*** can happen to the best of drivers. Better to be safe and a little less comfortable than sorry.

The fact that the TA on Corsas was about 3 seconds up on the Z/28 with those ridiculous tires it has speaks volumes. If it had Trofeo R's this would have been even more of a laugh fest. Well at least we are back to the old constant where the Viper tears up the competition in the performance dept but loses the overall subjective win. Im fine with that. To be fair though, none of those cars are in the TA's performance league even with the Corsa's. The numbers say it all.

It's easy to forget if you are not a Viper person. I instruct in Vipers on a regular basis, never had a calf burn, but as you mention, I've never had on shorts either while in one (I don't wear shorts to events). For the general population I'm sure it's applicable to an owner as I'm sure some have had to learn the hard way to wear pants or avoid stepping directly in front of or dragging your leg on the side skirt while stepping in the car.

I'm not surprised the Viper cleared the field by 3 seconds.

I am very surprised the Aston was on the same lap second as the Z28! I have just run over 800km of closed roads in my little tuned C63 Coupe and had no problem keeping a Feb 14 new Vantage S at bay, though I'm sure if we'd been allowed to run top speeds that would change. Maybe the driver of the Aston was being timid, because it really didn't figure in our event.
