What would it take to replace your Gen II.

What would it take to replace your Gen II. For me it is actually nothing. But I was looking into the same question with my Callaway and the only two cars that I could come up with was a Ford GT or a Porsche 993 TT or preferably TTS. Unfortunately both of these cars have appreciated to the point where they are out of reach. I can see the FGT but I cannot figure out why the 993tt is worth 150. It is an awesome car with classic styling that will never go out of style and the last air cooled Porsche but I am not sure it justifies the prices it is demanding or how quick they are going up. Cars that were 80 to 90k last year are now 130 to 150. I wonder if the Gen II will ever do this. It has all the criteria IMHO but who knows.

What would you replace your Gen II with?

A FGT would do it for me as well, though they seem to be trading in the mid-to-high 2's now. Holy crap. What a bargain, a $35,000 GTS is on par (emotionally) with a FGT at almost an order of magnitude more....

It would be difficult to replace the GEN2 as it's just so raw. I've had a Porsche 911TT, Supra, Viper, M3...they are all different cars, and none as "raw" as the GEN2 Viper. It's not for everyone, but I feel if you are a GEN2 Viper fan, it will be hard to replace the visceral experience of it.

The Gen2, Specifically the GTS was the pinnacle of automotive styling IMO. Only car I would consider a straight up trade for it is a Gen5. But with my own cash, for Gen5 money I would possibly rather have two Gen2's. One set up for the track, the other a bit tamed for the street.

The FGT doesn't compare to it by the least bit IMO. Sure it looks "cool" and looks like a Race Car, but that's it. The styling lacks the organic depth of the GTS and is more designed around the chassis rather than designing a beautifull body First then making the rest work. There are a lot of "Cool" looking cars out there exotic and expensive that people claim to love but I think its all hype. The GTS talks to me on a deep deep level that no other car has been able to. All the curves in all the right places, The way they naturally merge with one another is like a force greater than human participated in the design.

My 2001 Sapphire Blue RT 10 with Borla Cat Backs, Straight tubes and K&N Filters. Wouldn't want to replace it.

For me, nothing. I love both my GenIIs. However, I would like to add a GenV one day. BTW over the weekend my ’02 GTS won “Best of Show” at a local car show. Great fun.

For the money, there's nothing like one. Would be hard to replace a Gen 2 and get the same sex appeal without forking over A LOT of money.

A gen II GTS is one of the best bang for the buck cars out there. I could have gotten any Viper I wanted, but the Gen II GTS is the best looking one of the entire Viper line. As for the Ford GT , for that price I would get something more exotic.

I took my 96 RT/10 to a car show last month. There was an empty spot right next to a mint 63 Thunderbird Convertible. I waited for the owner to come back. When he showed up I offered to swap him even up. So I guess that answers the question.

Anyway, he declined, needed cash, so I still have the Viper, which I'm inclined to keep. Unless...
