Dave has no plans to post here regularly. His occasional posts are what I would describe as "test strafing". If there's no resistance, he will swoop down to feast on carrion. He's a scavenger...not a bird of prey.

To get back on track, I went under the car to look over the job at hand. The trans mount looks easy, motor mounts seem a lot harder, I also spotted my fuel filter, that is in a bad spot, not looking forward to that job.

The motor mounts are not as hard as you would think and can be done completely from underneath without removing anything else. Do remember to take the bolts off the stock airbox holding it to the radiator support so the engine will raise up freely. Remove the bracket from the engine cause you will not break the top mount bolt loose in the car, I can tell you that. Do one side at a time. The drivers side is easy, the passenger side takes some creative maneuvering.

Actually, more like a drive-by shooter. In and out....

DajerseyViper, thank you for the tips, I appreciate it very much. One thing I have on my side is time, the car stays on stands all winter and my garage is temp control and carpeted which makes it nice to work, but a pain to be careful not to spill or goop up the place. When I did my power steering pulley and bracket I had towels packed everywhere, did not spill a drop on the rug. On that job I found it easier to remove the pump from the car and change the pulley on the work bench. The fuel filter looks like fun, a gas shower waiting to happen:D Again thanks everyone for the video and tips.:usa:

I agree on the pulley, I did the same thing. Its so easy to remove there is no point in risking damaging something by doing it in the car..Well, I also HAD to remove it cause I was replacing the pump =-)

A word of advice, ratcheting wrenches help get the 2 bolts holding the bracket to the block. As for the one bolt holding the bottom side of the motor mount to the frame, use a breaker bar but definitely hit it with a butane torch first to loosen it up, cause you will be in a weird position to get leverage on it, and it is tight!!( remove both of these bolts completely or the engine wont jack up) My impact gun wouldn't do it..Jack the motor up a little bit (use a piece of 2x6 on your jack so as not to crack the oil pan) to remove the 2 bolts easily. then jack it up a bit more and drop the mount right out, bracket and all.. Do the drivers side first so your motivated, cause the passenger side is a little harder to get to the 2 bolts. You will need some long extensions and swivels..

Thats exactly what he did, he brought his boy 8.0L over here to test the waters and was met with obvious resistance and couldnt muster up a posse like he does in the litter box, so he went back over there with his tail between his legs. Thats typical...

Aw, hey.. That hurt my feelbads. I didn't mean to step on yours! Let's be friends!
I promise I wouldn't have said anything if I knew you'd get emotional about it.

Also, just because I have a shop rag for a gas cap, a milk crate for a passenger seat, and only running on 3 cylinders doesn't constitute a hollow viper :(

Only thing I would add if you plan to change the mounts are to make up some bigger heat shields, lots of Viper owners add aftermarket headers which throw out a lot of heat, the stock Heat shields do not cover enough of the new Poly mounts and they can secombe to heat.

Just something to be aware of ;)

There is a lot of bad advise in this thread. Sadly it is worshiped as the gospel.

I got to 14K posts learning the car and designing parts and systems for it. Working with vendors on designs and installs. Documenting and posting real world engineering. Too bad the double standards at the VCA are alive and well. Your censorship is doing exactly what it did before; affecting membership.

What does RSI have to do with me or this thread DJV? I use Dan Lesser from Viper Specialty Performance. Please correct your insults to him.

Have a great day.

Yeah for $300...I paid $136 for a superior designed product from polybushings.com the metal inside of the poly interlocks, so they will not fail..

Sorry for the previous accusations that your bargain shopping wasn't intelligent. But you got ripped off. Here are mounts for $12.44 and they are just as good.

Those are OEM rubber mounts, I wanted good quality polyurethane motor mounts, and that's what I got.

And again, what bad advice? I had bad mounts, I bought new mounts, I saved money and got a quality product similar if not superior to similar ones and saved some money..No bad advice here..

14 k post, wow...You must spend a lot of time on here. Sorry to hear that, but the amount of post does not change ones character. Keep stroking your own ego and how special you exactly are and how much the Viper community needs you.

Also No insults directed at Dan Lesser, just posting one of his quotes how he agrees that the Woodhouse motor mounts were failing and how he has seen them tear apart..No insult there pal...Dont know where RSI reference cam up, I certainly did not make it..

There is a lot of good advise in this thread. Sadly I'm threatened by it.

I got to 14K posts because I have no life. Working with RSI and Vipair on design and installs. Documenting and posting real world horse $hit.Too bad the VCA has Free2go here otherwise I'd take over. Your censorship is doing exactly what it did before; keeping out the a$$holes.

What does RSI have to do with me or this thread DJV other than the fact that we are life mates. Please correct your insults to him.

Have a great day ladies.

Fixed that......

What a mess.

Dave-

1) You were asked very politely to edit your post in a PM, you clearly broke forum rules in insulting other users. You chose not to remove the personal insults, so I did it. I left the rest of the inane post there, it is still there in all it's inanity, sans the insults. So your cry of "censorship" is very over-blown.

2) You have not been a member here for at least 5 years. I think you lost standing to comment on "lost members" years ago. Additionally, we don't need members that badly that we will tolerate insulting behavior that offends everyone else.

3) Not only did you not choose to edit your post to conform with the rules, you chose to not acknowledge the request, and your acknowledgement comes in the way of ANOTHER insult on the forums (which I am now editing, again). We are all volunteers here, and we shouldn't have to get involved with adults in a car club on the internet and the way they treat each other.

4) Finally, censorship is WAY down here. You will find many posts critical of the VCA, but we will not tolerate attacks on others. We've actually had negative numbers of people on moderation (some of the people in THIS thread were put on mod by the previous regime, and are now off mod due to "good behavior" and the fact it was likely not originally warranted). I bring this up because..... you are 1 post away from being the first person in over 6 months being put on mod. I hate to say this publicly, but you chose not to respond to a PM.

Greg
PS, you know who I am in real life, as I do you, if you'd like to stop being an internet bully and talk about this in real life, you know how to contact me. Please contribute in a way that adds, vs subtracts to the community.

Well said Greg. You know, Dave posted a couple of times prior to bombing this thread...and I posted nothing in response. I steer clear of him until he starts slinging insults like an arrogant diva.

I was disappointed there wasn't a #5, I meant 5.. Also, this forum has PM abilities? How do I check those?
I'm digging that we're all friends now. It's a good thing.

Dude. THANK YOU!
I'm gonna get to work regrowing my hair right away. I get so sad about my baldness...a lot!
But seriously, Viper-Buddies now?

Well, I saw your exhaust note video a while back. I would probably forget about regrowing it and consider a toupee. If you can advance a little further in your stages of grief concerning your baldness and verbally share your insecurities that led you to seek out a cultish worship with Dave...I may consider your friendship.

Oh absolutely, my insecurities could fill a pond! I contemplate getting a full head of hair tattooed on my skull but, jeez, talk about a commitment.. plus I'm scared of needles and tattoos.. You strike me as a tough guy for sure I bet you have a bunch huh? Do they hurt at all? I'd like to have a dragon crawling out of a lake on my shoulder holding the American fLag, how much do you think that'd cost, ballpark?

LOL, alright this thread is so far off topic. Please start a new one if you want to talk about motor mounts some more (and not sling more mud please!)
