Have owned the car for about 13 years, usually after a dead battery i canuse the fob to turn the alarm off,but this time alarm stays on and the alarm does not seem to respond to either of my key fobs. Pretty annoying!! Anyone know the easy fix?

I have an issue with the alarm in my 99 GTS as well. When I bought the car in 2010 I've noticed the red blinking light on top of the dash didn't work. Arming the car with the fob, the horn works but the light doesn't. Upon opening the clamshell the alarm doesn't go off. I've checked the hood switch with a multimeter and it's good. I park the car in my garage and usually never let it out of sight when out. It would still be more reassuring if the alarm would sound if someone try tweeking it. Tried the key in the compartment behind the console and it makes no difference. Any idea if a relay or fuse curcuit needs to be checked ? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Steve, battery was brand new when I bought the car and it's on a tender all the time. Voltage is always up, car starts up right away.. Door lights work fine, shutting off after few seconds.

Are you sure that hood switch actually works when? Also, lift glass switch on strut malfunction may play a role. You might have a problem with alarm key switch in console...they are quite delicate, and are easily broken with manipulation during harness installations or rear speaker work. Asking a tech to look at your car with his scan tool may save you a lot of time. Ultimately, you may find it is the electronic entry module itself.

The car is all stock, I'll look into the switch in the console. I can do all the work myself, just need some time. there's no techs around this city I could trust more than myself, hehe. Thanks Steve

Ps; if I buy the 1999 Viper manual online, does it have a full electrical schematic diagram?

Call before you go near that console switch...attempting to disconnect the wire often nets a broken switck of which there are no replacements.

I understand your tech worries, but you could chase parts a long way if you don't use drb iii to guide the process. An entry module is about $450.00.

Steve, I restored cars, motorcycles, boats, you name it. Also, I work with super sensitive components [ optics, lasers, electronics ] at work so I'm pretty careful with stuff.
Thanks for your concern anyways. Was looking for info on obvious issues with the car's alarm system.
Just a side note, some crook tried to break into my Navigator that I park on the street, got the lock busted, the only keyed entry [ driver door ] can't use the key anymore if the battery goes dead. Won't be able to open the door with the fob and release to hood to jumpstart. Have to replace the lock cylinder now too, arghhh.
