Valve Cover removal

I have a green car and red valve covers which don't look good to me. I decided to paint them. Removing them from the car has turned out to be a big job.

Has anyone here removed their valve covers on a Gen 4. Mine is a 2010.

The injector harness was a pain but got them off. I have removed the driver side valve cover.

The passenger side is another story. If you want easy access to the back bolts you have to remove an air box in the rear corner which involves taking apart what seems like half the car.

The rear bottom valve cover bolt is the most difficult.

Before I take apart a bunch of stuff or GIVE UP, has anyone done this job?

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has some advice.

Thanks.

Done this many times, take off winscreen wiper, undo screws holding the panel under the wiper, you can take it right off, then you
can get to the airbox, there are about 6 screws holding it in place, when all undone, you have to wriggle it out, it is a bit of cnt
but do it once and youll be able to do it easily a second time, once that box is out, you can get to all the bolts on the cover

Thanks.

That is the direction I'm going, but it appears you have to remove at least the passenger side wiper arm. I removed the wiper arm nut but can't get the arm to release from the shaft. Looks like I may have to make up some kind of puller. I was able to get the air box loose but I have not been able to extract it from the engine bay. I will give it another try. Thanks again.

sssammm,

Thanks.

I did it a little different than you but I got it off, after that it was easy. Hope I can remember how all of this stuff goes together once the valve covers are painted.

i got lucky, the red shade of the valve covers are the same as stripes (so left them alone) and just had the coil covers and intake powder coated.:D

SANCHOBA,

Your engine looks great.

The red works for most colors. I just don't like red with green.

I also painted my calipers black.

I'm doing the valve covers in silver to match the intake. I'm waiting on some new gaskets so I can put things back together.
