i know its not a viper but the cameras on phones nowadays are getting pretty crazy

I concur. My phone takes some pictures that have really impressed me, but typically only outdoor with good lighting. It has an issue with auto white balancing indoors, but outdoor pictures are really way more detailed than I would have thought.
