Hi all,

I am shopping around for a 96-99 GTS. I am in VA but have no qualms about traveling for the right car- we all love road trips right?

I'd like to be between 20-40,000 miles, a nice driver car.

I am looking for a well maintained car with no stories. Something that shows well and no rust. I really would like to get into a blue/white.

I would like to budget around 30-35k.

Well that wraps it up fellas, please let me know if you have a lead on anything or a viper for sale!

Thanks all.

I think between 30-35 you will be looking at cars with stories, but that is not always a bad thing. If you are looking for a "driver' don't be afraid of a car that has been repaired CORRECTLY. As far as rust, these are plastic cars with a steel frame. The body doesn't rust and because these cars are so HORRIBLE in freezing weather (snow, ice, etc) the frames never see rust causing issues.

Welcome.

If there are cars you find, that you'd like to have looked at, many members here would be willing to look at cars for you in their area.

The search is almost as much fun as the car itself, enjoy the trip.

I agree Steve, it is fun to keep your ear to the ground in search of such a neat car. I also hope we cross paths down the line as I am in the DMV as well.

Hi GLH,

I just purchased a B/W with 20k miles in pristine condition. Of all cars the cars I viewed, the best cars were from those who responded to my posts... but you have to be specific about what you want, as you were.

I will say this though, the only B/W I seen that was close to 35K was not in good condition. I offered a low price (34k) and it was declined, then later sold for 37K. That guy is now trying to flip the car for 45K. I suppose if you look for cars closer to 40K, you might get lucky. I think there are a few listed now for 37K on Autotrader, but good luck with listed cars... I had pretty bad luck with listed cars.
I ended up raising my price significantly to find the right car. I actually considered getting a Gen IV because I was finding so many cars that weren't what I expected.

The good cars are out there, but you will need to be patient and you might want to reconsider your budget after you test the water a bit.
