Currently own a 2011 Camaro SS convertible with manual 6spd and LS3. Also have a modified exhaust. LOVE the torque and exhaust note. Love how scary it feels. But I've had it for 5 years now and I'm ready for something new.
I'm absolutely in love with the Porsche 997.1 Turbo and I've researched it extensively. The problem is, at $65,000 and up, it's just out of my price range. I'd have to save for at least a year, maybe two.
That's why I'm looking at Vipers. So much more reliable than the Porsche Turbo, easier to work on, and just a tad slower. The Turbo is more elegant for sure, but the Viper is so theatrical. In its own way, I think the Viper is better looking and will definitely get a lot more attention. But right now, the main thing attracting me to the Viper is price. I could easily buy one, enjoy it for a few years, and sell it at no loss. Or even better, fall in love and keep it forever.
I want the gen 2 GTS, doesn't everybody? But I've always owned convertibles. I want that GTS ass and roof line, but I can't imagine life without a droptop.
So what's your favorite droptop as far as looks? As far as performance, are the newer generations fast enough that I should stop looking at the gen 2? Has anyone owned a 997 Turbo, what are your thoughts between the two?
