I had tranny apart last summer and put a new clutch kit and slave cylinder in. now i just had tranny out again and put another new clutch kit in and a new input shaft. and last night i was driving it around and noticed some tranny fluid leaking from inspection cover,,, i must have torn the seal putting the front plate on im guessing.... now while i also had it out last night i noticed the clutch pedal get really soft.and clutch pedal was really close to the floor taking off.. i checked my fluid is still shown in the clutch resavouir. master cylinder was good and dry.. do you think the fluid leaking on the slave cylinder would make it do this. or is then new slave cylinder on the way out.. thanks

What color is the fluid? I wouldn't think anything else has changed, but the clutch line does run fairly close to the exhaust sometimes. If the fluid is getting really hot it could sometimes mess with that. Also, new slave cylinders are notoriously difficult to completely bleed during installation, so sometimes it just takes miles to get all the bubbles worked out.

As a last resort I'd check the pressure plate. Put a T56 in my old Dart and was fighting the clutch for the longest time trying to figure out why it wouldn't fully release. Ended up discovering that the pressure plate had a cracked finger.

Well the fluid is a dark grey colour.it was bleed fine all along but just the drive the other night it got right soft and engagement was really close to the floor still engaged fine and shifted fine but pedal was really soft and close to the floor it did look like some oil down by where quick connector connects only higher but I'm sure it's just oil flying of the clutch and coming out the hole by the slave cylinder ! I have to take tranny back out to fix pretty sure I tore the seal.. So If I knew it was the slave cylinder I would swap it out too .. While I have it apart..

You might try bleeding it while you have it apart. It can take a while to get air out of the slave, even with the bleeder on them with the design. I typically try not to split the system at all if possible, but I realize the semi-hard lines in the Viper make that a little tougher. Really about the best way to bleed the concentric style slave cylinders like our cars have is just to crack the bleed line and let gravity do the work. Playing around with the pedal just seems to make things worse for me. It's not quite like doing brakes because of the spring in the system.

Ok it was working great all along for the last few months.. Just wondering why it got soft all off a sudden?? Anyways it's either the slave cylinder or Maby the line I did notice it wet up a little higher past where the quick connect goes on... I'll have a new slave and put in when i take tranny out to fix leak!

It went soft after playing with it for months and then a tranny steps in... I need a new mind...
