2005 Ram SRT-10 Converted for full 100% track duty. Reliability & oiling questions inside.

Hello, using an engine out of a 2005 Ram SRT-10 in an endurance 24 hour racecar. I have experience with the viper V10's over the years, but never in a all out road race track enviornment.

I heard there are oiling issues with the Gen III's, but this has the rear sump pan so I'm not sure if this engine is also affected?

Anything needed to do to the engine to keep it reliable?

You need to get a swing-arm in your oil pan if you plan to road race. Pick-up arm doesn't move and it will starve oil in sweeping turns, or any high G loads. You can buy an used one from a Comp Coupe or get a new one from Viper Specialties. VS converts the Generation 4 set up for a Generation 3.

Not sure what you mean by 'rear sump pan', are you meaning to say dry sump set up?

The oil pan on a truck is different than the oil pan on a car. The truck pan has a rear sump.
