Hi,
One of my moton's is leaking to I am sending it out to RE engineering to be rebuilt. This is the passenger rear shock. This shock has the remote reservoir. The tube connecting the shock and the reservoir had to be disconnected to remove it. There was just a small hole drilled into the rear cabin that the line went through to the shock.
I asked about re installation of the shock, and if the hose could be disconnected to feed it through the drilled hole and reconnected to the shock. I was told that this was not possible as air would get into the shock. I intend to drill a bigger hole through the trunk to allow the reservoir to pass through and keep the 2 pieces intact.
My question is- since the other shock in the rear has been installed the same way (taken apart) does that mean that the other shock is bad also.

I've heard of people installing the rears that way. Many years ago when I was trying to figure out how I was going to install my MCS shocks with the remote reservoirs (same design as what you have), it was either do that, or get a little more creative with the pass-through vent thingy that already exists in the wheel well. I opted to go the latter route, but when exploring whether or not to disconnect the shock, I was told that you'd want to make sure you did a few fills/purges with nitrogen before filling one last time with nitrogen to make sure you got the air out of the system. You'd need a PowerTank setup (or something similar) to do that, and at the time, I didn't have one. I do now though.

Hopefully someone with a better idea will chime in, but unless they were originally assembled in a vacuum or an all inert gas environment, I don't see how disconnecting the line and reconnecting it would be a big deal provided you did the fill/purge/fill method with nitrogen after you were done.
