Crack in front edge of door

Not sure how long this has been there... I'm guessnig fairly new as I never noticed it before. Anyone know if there are hinge points behind this crack and maybe the door was thrown open too hard? there's a small crack in this area that looks like a bolt or something is pushing through from the inside. Circled in red is where the crack is, then a close up of the actual crack.

Here's a better shot I took this morning, planning to pull it apart tonight to figure out what's going on. Anyone know what this bar is behind the door, circled in red? That's not on my passenger side and it lines up perfectly with the crack in the door circled in red.

Does the hold open feature still function for the door?
Pretty good chance is that the “spring” has failed and fell down into a position that is causing this crack.
When you open and close the door this will occur, so be careful.
Jon B sells a fix kit for this.
If you have fair mechanic ability you can probably do this fix.

Thanks for the input - the door does stay open, no problem. Anyone know of a write up or instructions on the fix? I'm definitley comfortable doing it, just want to ensure I do it correctly and not cause more damage!
