New member here. Does anyone have any info on this 1997 GTS interior, with the Viper stitched into the seats and "GTS" on the center console? I included the VIN in the pictures. Was it a factory option? If so, is it a rare option?

Would depend on the buyer, and frankly at this point more are looking for stock than custom. If you are enjoying it , as it seems nicely done, that is really all that matters.

Actually I am looking at purchasing this one. I do freaking love it, so I'm trying to keep my emotions in check haha. The seller seems knowledgeable, but I dont get the impression that they are Viper "experts". It's priced high in my opinion, so I was wondering if this interior had any effect on value. I am going to research the VIN some more also.

Frankly with a 96-97 GTS stock would increase the value ,and custom is probably a negative for the majority of buyers. This is due to the preponderance of the B/W being considered by many one of the best long term collectible Vipers out there.

This looks like a Viper Exchange car. They do tend to stock a few nicer cars, but be aware that their prices are going to be about 5-7K higher than the same car if you search around a bit.

Ok, thanks for the info. Does it add any value or devalue the car any?

I would argue that if anything it lowers the value slightly. Vipers are a rare breed in that a lot of buyers don't seem to care if it is stock or not, which is rare in the car world. I would want to restore the car, so if I was the buyer I would deduct the cost of the parts from what I could offer. The right buyer might want these changes, but I tend to think that buyer is not the norm.

Ive seen that car online at GR auto sales or something like that. At 43k miles, its not really a collector so dont worry about the interior, if you like it, go for it. Personally the bigger issue I would have it the very clearly repainting around the vin on the last picture on your first post. Thats a eye raiser in my opinion. The wing is a price killer as well. Wings dont seem to translate well in terms of getting top dollar for GTS Vipers.

If "YOURE" the one buying it, the only real question is do YOU
like it? There is no standard rules for the value of any car, let
alone Vipers. Ive said it a million times here - if youre looking to
buy a Viper because of resale, youre buying the wrong car.
(Despite what some here would argue) these are not show
peices, theyre never going to be the next Hemi Cuda Conv at
auction, in fact i think the market is going to bottom out sooner
than later due to emissions, fuel costs, and the simple fact that
kids dont want to drive let alone buy fast smelly cars.

Buy it to drive. Period. If thats not your goal then move on,
youre looking at nothing but disappointment as it sits in the
garage...

Bonkers your probably right, but I love looking at my Viper in the garage, it shares space with a Shelby GT 500 and a Hemi Challenger , and when anyone comes over its the Viper that gets all the attention, yes I hang with an older crowd , but I also think one day Vipers will be sought after. And if not I still love it, and thats what counts.

I think both views are fair, though ultimately Bonkers has the right general idea in my opinion that you buy the car for what you want, though I would also agree that any car purchased as an "investment" is kinda the wrong idea. You can buy it to enjoy how it looks and you can buy it because you like driving it, but buying it just because you think it will get more valuable is never really a good idea for me. Then again I'm a car guy and have never bought a car with the intent of selling it. You can never guess what people are going to want a decade from now, nor what your situation will be at that time. Storing a car is often harder on it as well, so if anything something with super low miles that sits forever only really has one type of buyer, the guy that also wants it as an investment, and they are going to want to get it at a good price, so it's a spiral.

I don't know that I would continue to put a ton of effort into who did the interior as it is not likely to be a benefit to most collectors/buyers in the future. I would not see it as a reason to pay more , so why not just decide if you like it and move forward. I would use the seats as a Sales Tool for yourself , stating you would need to buy a couple of used seats as the purchase of the original seat covers from Dodge appears to be impossible and the Dealers you chatted with stated they were over 1000 a piece years back.

Long term I do believe you would need factory correct seats and console for maximum values.
