Just replaced the battery on my 1995 RT10. Died over the winter. Go to turn over the engine and it starts for 3 seconds and shuts down. Trying certain things but had done this about a dozen times and all I get is 3 seconds. No pops, bucking, sputtering, etc. Sounds normal only it dies at 3 seconds. I rechecked the fuel pump connection at the battery again and all is good. I can hear the pump go for 2 seconds when the key is on. Fuel rail spits out gas. Checked all fuses. Not throwing the check engine light. Spark is fine. Im thinking clogged injectors but wanted to hear from others what they think and if I should get some spray and push it through the intakes? Gas tank was almost empty when I put it away last fall. I put in 4 gal of fresh high octane gas. Thanks!

Nothing is clogged, maybe you have to reset the alarm cut off, from the key fob. Look in your manual how to do it, I have a 95 and 99 never had a problem, but there on battery tenders. Steve-indy knows a lot about how to reset it.

Fixed! I guess if your name is Steve, you know your ****. Steve Indy got on the phone with me immediately and solved this issue. I guess in the early vipers, if the voltage gets too low, it can mess with the car alarm and turn it on. The alarm system was killing fuel and spark after 2 seconds. Steve Indy had plan B ready to roll with some instructions and live tutorial over the phone if I needed to, basically, reset the alarm under the dash. Plan A was to turn the alarm off and on with the key FOB. The FOB worked. Car started right up and sounds like a monster again! You guys just saved me a couple thousand as my basic mechanic would have gone for injectors and once that failed, it would have gone to a dealership where who knows where it would have gone. This is the greatest community with thousands of big brains. Thank you Steve and Steve!

Serb Venom, if you ever have a question, please don't hesitate to call. That said, you have one of the foremost Viper experts in the world right there in So Cal...Mr. Dan Cragin...who is a REAL Viper Tech...there at the start, and still going. Track or street Vipers...he can do it all !!

By the way, totally agree about the fog...no such thing as IFR in a Viper !! :)

Hi, Troy...sorry to hear of your troubles.

To be clear, I am not a tech...just a dedicated hobbyist with few Vipers.

While I do maintain our Vipers from all Gens, I leave the serious stuff to the serious techs. Fortunately, I arrange for Tom Sessions to come to Indy once or twice a year to a friend's dealership...where Tom (and I to a small degree) work on 15-20 Vipers for a week at a time. Having my own DRB III and an early wiTECH helped with advance diagnosis...and therefore parts ordering.

I would be happy to speak per phone with you...noting that knowing who to call around the country for help is a major advantage. Knowing your location is a second big step. I can be reached at 317-402--9013 if you choose to do so.

Another FYI, Gen I cars will drain their batteries in twenty days if not run or on a charger. Just the nature of the beast. Two other pieces of advice, mine had a loose wire on the alarm system. If my toe hit it the alarm would turn on. I finally unplugged it. There are specific instructions on how to do that. More advice. Always carry a spare key fob battery in the car. Got burned by that too. If you decide to disable the alarm it is much easier to do with the seat removed. Yes, Steve is the goto guy. If he doesn't have the answer he will find it. Saves lots of time and grief. In my address book too.
