I thought you were done once you hit 250 MPH??? You might as well go for 275 mph and then no one will ever get close to your record! Congrats!

I'm not sure where that 275 MPH comes from...………..I deny all knowledge of me saying that last Thursday at 3:34 pm. That was someone who looks similar to me...……….

The fastest I ever went was 175.7 mph on a Suzuki 1150ES in the late 80s I can not fathom going almost 100 mph faster than that. Again Just AMAZING, PS I know a lot of you are thinking it must be scary on a bike, not when your young and stupid LOL.

People tell me I'm crazy all the time, especially when they ask me what it's like doing those speeds and I tell them it's the most relaxing thing I do...……….now 175 on a bike......u are insane :)

Thought I would share a few more pictures from Jan 18th. This is me lined up behind a Ford GT that drove from Titusville FL to West Palm Beach and back the day before to put enough miles on it to break in the engine, it barely had 500 miles on it when he got back I think.

The GT returns and I'm about to launch Blucifer for 2.3 mile run I think, this was earlier in the day.

This is view of Blucifer running down the runway, I think this may have been the 248 MPH run.

This is my favorite picture, this was last run of the day, and it was either go big or go home, we had to be off the runway by 5 pm and I think this was somewhere between 4:30 and 4:50 pm. 43 seconds after this picture was taken I crossed the 250 MPH mark, and 13 seconds after that I crossed the timing lights at 252.588 MPH. It's still unbelievable to me that the team and I were able to make this happen. I hope once the current craziness in the world gets back to just the normal level of craziness we are able to make another attempt at another big number. I will keep you guys advised and thank you guys for the support

He did 199.648 in the 2.3 mile run and I think he broke 200 in the 2.7 mile. We were having issues by then so I didn't get to follow the other cars. The GT was stock so should have done low 200s I'm thinking.

FST SNAKE That whole event is just awesome, and you did a great job, to me its just so amazing how fast the new breed of cars are, I came from a time when the top cars LS6, 440 6 packs , 455 stage 1 , Hemi Cuda , Boss 429 , L88 Vetts Ect the list is long, could only do 120 mph tops, yes I know the gearing was stiff and we all had that friend that did 145 in his Moms caddy, but the truth is they had a very modest top end, and thank God for that, a lot of us would not be hear today if your Dads Buick 455 Estate wagon could go 200 mph. I love the old Muscle cars and they will always be close to my Heart but the new stuff is just amazing.

Yea Steve I grew up in that timeframe too, cars still had carburetors, points and condensers, now I watch tuner plug in and make a few keystrokes, unplugs and tells me he added 200 more WHP. It's definitely a new world. Back in the day we bolted on HP. I had a bunch of those cars you mentioned, Z28, SS, Cobra, Mustang GTs, 442, LT1 and so on. Wish I had held on to some of them.

I just saw a video the other day where a shop was rebuilding an original 426 Hemi and it dynoed at basically 500/500, which is what my Viper did stock. It's just crazy to imagine that kind of power in a car 50+ years ago. I've got a 67 Dart I put a modern 5.7 Hemi in and it's already entertaining enough at only maybe 350-400 hp.

MoparMap you must remember back in the day the HP ratings were gross not net, on my sun dyno a 1970 Hemi would push any where from 310 to 330 to the rear wheels, a gen 2 Viper stock was 445 to 460 to the rear on my same sun dyno, and yes Dodge was conservative at 450 hp for the Viper a well known cool fact.

I found the 2005 Ford GT info on top speed, in the 2.7 mile run it did 203.037

Right, but this was on a modern dyno with all stock parts after just a regular rebuild, not the factory ratings. I know they were notoriously difficult to keep in tune though, so no telling how long that power hung around. Granted it was also flywheel rating, and drivelines have gotten more efficient since then as well, so less loss to the wheels.

Rear wheel HP takes a 10 to 18% hit from drive train loss and is a realistic figure for true output as installed in the car with all the crap on the engine and legal exhaust system. Your right they were difficult to keep tuned, but if you knew the weak points they were easy, make sure you lubed the ignition point cams and dump the stock ignition wires along with the Champion plugs, I had a few Hemi's and all the local guys at the time would bring me there cars, it was a cool time.
