Lots of vehicle break-ins in California lately! Have any Gen 2 owners upgraded the small red LED on their dashboard, replaced with a brighter LED? Flashing blue or white? This feature needs intensity. Been scanning many Forum boards - no luck. I want to swap in dazzling red LED(s) but don’t want to destroy my factory alarm/security system......yet!

It pains me to think you are parking or having to park your Viper where you are that concerned about a vehicle break-in. Better suggestion: move the heck out of Kalifornia.

Great suggestion about the Light Bar, Richard— but, we’d rather not literally ‘stop traffic’ when Vipering!
Sure, leaving the Crime in Cali would be a solution, but — give up Drought, Wildfires, Earthquakes and the Homeless masses?! No way dude!! [j/k not/k]
To upgrade my Viper’s security, I’m thinkin LASERS.....

I saw a news article about the rapid rise in car break ins out your way a while back. The law in California requires the prosecutor to prove that the car that was broken in to was locked in order to get a conviction. The legislature won’t close the loophole in the law because they are actually trying to keep criminals out of jail to reduce overcrowding.

Break ins are related to thieves wanting to steal whatever is visible in the car. You may be better off simply making sure that nothing is visible in the car and perhaps upgrading to a stereo that is worthless if stolen, maybe they still make the ones with the removable faceplate like they did in the ‘90’s? The alarm itself or a flashing light won’t deter them from smashing the window and pulling the stereo or whatever, they do it really fast! But I would think most are after something that they can just reach in the window and grab.

Cars get broken into for a pair of cheap sunglasses now! Gen 3 Vipers have an improved LED flashing on the rear-view mirror when the security system is armed... maybe I can adapt a whole mirror assembly to my Gen ll. Anyone done that that yet?
