Hey everyone, I just got my first Viper in the last two weeks, a 2004 Gen III. I'd like some tips on how to find a good mechanic in the northern IL area (rockford). I want them to give it a full once over, change out fluids, etc. I don't really know how to go about finding someone. Thanks!

Your Dodge dealership likely has a factory trained Viper tech, and they have the Mopar equipment and parts. Call ahead, then go meet him. Get a quote for some of the services you want, decide if you are getting ripped off - paying the Viper Tax, or if it’s reasonable.

I’ve had great experiences and not so great, depending on the dealership and the individual technicians, it’s just like anything else. You may have an independent specialist knowledgable about Vipers in your area, but unless Vipers are a significant part of their business indys are a crap shoot and may not be a good value or experience overall.

Contact your local club. You need to become a member if you aren't already. We have a service day in INDY every year that members can sign up for. Limited number of cars of course. Illinois club may do the same thing.
