Rattle in Subwoofer Port

I was wondering if anyone had the same problem and if they came up with a solution? I have a 2008 Viper convertible that is always garage kept and never left out. I am getting a rattling noise in the port above the subwoofer when the music is loud. (Of course i could lower the music but I would like to fix it) Any suggestions? The subwoofer looks to be ok and the rattling is not coming from it.

That port is just a tube that extends down into the subwoofer box and curls around a bit. The idea being it gives the box a resonance to help amplify the lower frequencies (though you might already know that if you're an audio person). On the inside of the box that tube it held on with a rubber sleeve that connects it to the molded part of the box where the "horn" shape is. It could be that the tube actually came loose inside the box and slipped off that rubber sleeve. I think the tube was also wrapped in some foam as it sat on the walls on the inside of the box. That foam will degrade over time regardless of how the car is stored I think. Might just need to be rewrapped in something. You'd have to take the back panel off and the speaker out of the sub box to check either of those though.

I did it and it was just like you said. It was a project getting the back panel off but I finally got it after watching someone do it on you tube. I used weather stripping to replace the foam that deteriorated. It is now working fine.
