She's a red 98 RT/10. Gen 2 with 14,950 miles on the odometer. All original and purchased from a small dealership in the state of Kentucky on New Years Day.

I should probably mention that I purchased the car sight unseen and without my wifes approval. Did not even mention it to her until a couple of hours before the Viper was delivered. As you can imagine it did not go over well but darn it I didn't want to be talked out of this and I new she wouldn't be on board. Just being honest...

That is outstanding Well worth a night on the couch if you ask me. Then again, I must have spent most of that first night just staring at the car in the garage instead of sleeping anyway. I'm sure she'll warm up to the idea with the attention you guys are sure to see at car shows.

A few days later the car finally arrived, delivered by a Russian gentleman driving a Ram 3500 dually and pulling a long covered car trailer. He spoke very little English but he was accompanied by his 15 year old son who spoke it rather well. Did I mention that this was all happening right smack dab in the middle of a viscious blizzard and ice storm? The air temp was minus 12 with a 20mph wind from the north. My acreage is located way out in the boonies and has a long driveway off of a dead-end gravel road.

Congrats on your new Viper !!

Get to know the Viper slowly. Are the tires dates old or new? Status of ALL fluids? Has the plastic P/S pulley been changed to billit aluminum...hopefully along with the pump mounting bracket?
Has the timing chain cover gasket been changed? Do your door emergency openers work? Do you have two working sets of keys and fobs? Do you plan to do the service work yourself? Do you know where the charging connections are under the hood? If and when your battery dies, and you put it on a charger...do not ever use the "start" button found on many chargers as it could fry your PCM.

How much more talking do you want to do? :)

The Viper fired right up and the Russian gentleman and his son carefully backed it out of the trailer, speaking in Russia the whole time. The boy told me that he and his father fled Russia six months earlier to seek a better life in the U.S. At last my my Viper was here, well almost. It was now parked and running on a solid ice covered gravel road. The Russian man asked if I wanted him to drive the Viper down my very long iicy driveway to my house. I thought about it for a second and then said sure!

The nice man maneuvered the Viper skillfully down my frozen driveway and the bright red car gently slid to a stop at the base of my icy and quite steep garage approach. I thanked him and then bid him and his son farewell and then proceeded to plan how I would accomplish getting the car the rest of the way up the approach and into my garage. The car arrived with Michelin pilot sports and they may very well be the original tires. Horrible in the winter! So I finally climb into my new 98 Viper and fire it up for the first time. Wow!

Congrats on the new car. I would listen to Steve here. He's full of good information and a huge jumping off point for owning a Viper.

My first few attempts to get the Viper up the icy incline did not go well. I could only make it about half way up then would just slide back down to the bottom. My biggest concern was a large silver maple near the bottom. So the Vioer ended up spending a couple nights outside uncovered in the freezing cold. Finally after many hours of salting, chiseling and scraping and with the aid of a bag of crushed rock from Home Depot I finally managed I get the Vioer into its new home (my heated garage). Of course my wife loved every second of anguish that i endured at the bottom of the icy incline! With time she's forgiven me for not telling her but it has not been without cost. I hope my first Viper drive is worth it. Can't wait!
